Side Emitting "Headlight" LED Strip

batman_4 08-31-2010 02:20 PM

in for pics as well...

ClemsonWill 08-31-2010 04:33 PM

I agree with the others. This looks so much better than the landing strip.

+1 for christian's writeup!

from NAGTROC post:

Quote:

-Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.

-Remove the front bumper

-Clean off any finger prints or oil from the surface before installation

-Install the DRL in a position where it will not interfere with the bumper fitment

-This system can be wired to the Ignition switch or the light switch (side marker)

-Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery and check that the DRL is functioning properly.

-When reinstalling the bumper, be careful to not scratch the DRL surface.

-The use of painters tape to protect from scratching is recommended during bumper installation.
...looks pretty straightforward.

ye i thought these were cool too... when i saw them on an audi.

i'm actually quite shocked so many people are into this. here in nyc, every other honda has LEDs under the headlights. this is just an led strip from what I can see, without reflectors behind them, its total fail imo.

KusoSama 08-31-2010 05:06 PM

I'm buying them.

@OP: Could you post a DIY in the first post? Or at least a link to one there? :)

HATED1 08-31-2010 05:51 PM

can you imagine what the order is gonna be like for Greddy after the review? 50 orders in 2 days lol !

If they are cool on an Audi then why can't it be cool on a Z? :tiphat:

With that said, I am interested in these only if they are bright enough during the day. I assume that they are because they are being advertised as DRL.
The other thing that I am interested to see is if they are shaped to specifically fit the contour of the lights. From the pics it looks like they are.
$99 is a bit steep for a few LED's but if it's designed for a specific application then it may be worth it.

That is as simple as splicing into the OEM parking light wires with a dedicated splice. Then you heat shrink some wrap onto it to seal it from moisture and you are good to go.

I really don't care about most of the cheaper alternatives, if this fits well and looks good, that is money well spent.

laZymf 09-01-2010 01:12 AM

GROUP BUY??? I bet it's gona be a big hit!

Yep I took a look into it and my friend said he could prob help me soulder the wires.

Time to ask if they ship international!

CrownR426 09-01-2010 01:35 AM

Looks GREAT!
BUT... I wonder how long its under warranty and how long it would take them to fix or replace a led strip if it were to wear out earlier than the others..
I hate waiting... lol only thing that keeps me away from these!
And +1 on if there's a switch to turn on and off

SE 09-01-2010 02:05 AM

First post updated. I will try to see tomorrow morning if GReddy can offer a group buy.

G Fo12ce 09-01-2010 04:07 AM

I may be down, I was looking at my car and there doesn't look like there's a lot of room between the light and the NISMO fascia.

GReddy just released a vehicle-specific Daytime Running Light kit for the 370Z.

It's basically a LED light strip that goes underneath your OEM headlamp. From the looks of it, it will not require any headlight modifications in order to fit.

Unfortunately we will not be selling these directly as they are a GReddy web site exclusive product.

You can get yours directly from GReddy here:
GReddy

EDIT- AFTER OVERWHELMING RESPONSE AND PM'S THAT WE DO NOT OFFER THIS DIRECTLY, WE HAVE DECIDED TO SEE IF GREDDY CAN OFFER A GROUP BUY.

I changed the first post to reflect the people who PM'ed me for a spot on the group buy list. If you PM'ed me previously, please PM me again to confirm a spot on the GB list.

Thanks,
Victor

Sibze 09-01-2010 10:22 AM

I'll be down for the group buy but I want to wait until I see it on a car thats not from the maker

VaGntlmn 09-01-2010 10:42 AM

I like them better than the landing strip too.
Interested in more pics and a group buy price.

I wish they were a little bit longer and wrapped up the side a little more.
It would make the car smile. :icon17:
Anybody know if you can slide them left and right?

christian370z 09-01-2010 11:32 AM

Mine still haven't shipped, will call GReddy today to see what is going on. I hope to have them on early next week but they need to be shipped first.

zero 09-01-2010 11:43 AM

I'll check it out at the GReddy Fest 2 this coming Sunday.

SE 09-01-2010 12:13 PM

I edited the original post. Unfortunately GReddy is unable to provide a group buy discount, so please place your orders directly though the GReddy web site. Be sure you tell them Speed Element sent you :)

Thanks,
Victor

Bummer. Thanks for trying. :tiphat:

SE 09-01-2010 02:50 PM

No worries. We'll be purchasing a few sets for ourselves here too!

Dembflyr 09-01-2010 02:54 PM

Is anyone else having a problem applying the coupon? When I first opened the link it showed a $7 discount and once inside it says to use "onlineexclusive3" for free shipping. However, I cannot find where to apply the coupon nor am I getting the $7 discount.
I have emailed Greddy but haven't received a response.

SE 09-01-2010 03:03 PM

Are you able to get free shipping? Call GReddy directly at 949.588.8300
