OEM Factory NAV
I would love to install the Factory NAV in my Nismo. I have gone to a couple of local Car Stereo stores and they are all telling me this not possible. Something about Nissan doesn't install all of the wiring under the dash if the NAV doesn't come from the factory.
Anyone have experience on this, has anyone else gotten the same info or had the NAV installed? |

Supposedly, they need a new dash ordered, harness, and then the nav unit itself. I decided to just go aftermarket and spent 1k. |
$100 for nuvi and modshack bracket...

i have the factory nav. Its nice. but not that great. The aftermarket nav's all seem better. only better thing about the factory nav is how it flows with the car's interior.

Break out your wallet if you want factory nav... many have asked the same question and the same price keeps popping up... TOO MUCH!
The reason the factory nav costs so much is like one poster mentioned (new harnesses, nav unit, center dash and etc...) what you dont know is that through the factory nav I can control most features on the car such as auto diming, speed volume, door locks, wiper sensors and a whole slew of other things. This is why its sooo expensive! Best bet get an aftermarket unit add an extra screen with a car computer and be done... maybe add a ps3 with wifi or something ;) |
or buy a Canadian Car. I have been told that the Nismo and 40th Anniversary editions come with Nav in Canada. I am not 100% but check it out.
I know installing factory Nav on a non Factory nav car would be a Pain. Harnesses are different but Dash should not be an issue. |
^^^^ agree the only difference in the dash is the center console (dash area) and it can be bought pretty cheap.
|
Would be nice if someone on here could fabricate the piece to replace that center console. and then use the aftermarket nav for the screen to flow when you can see it instead of looking down.

yeah that is what they told me. It make's no sense that they wouldn't offer the Factory NAV in their high end Car.

I agree it flows better, also I am trying to keep the look of the Car as OEM as possible. Only Modes I want to do are performance.

I think the factory nav screen would've annoyed me during normal driving; while my pioneer is only there when I need it, and out of view while looking at the road. |
I like the map always on, but I also like that unlike Acura, the screen shows status info if you don't press enter rather than going dark. In any case, the factory nave has an off switch for the screen - not quite as nice as folding away, but there.

Did you replace your speakers and add an amp 'if so what make/models'? When it comes to my baby I always go 'top of the line' so wondering what else you went with on your audio system?
[QUOTE=Milenko2121;673541]I went with the Z110BT (z120bt wasn't out yet), and I think it was a much better choice. |

Fronts - ZR650-CSi (these things are so clear, it's amazing) Rears - C2-650 (they do a great job with the fill) Sub - 12W1v2 (Gonna be upgrading to dual 12W1's, maybe 12W3's later) Amp - XD600/6 (it runs everything just fine, but once I get the second 12W1, i'm going to get another amp for the subs) |
Kewel, Thx man.

iPhone 4 or iPad and TomTom NAV app! ;)
|
Much better and cheaper to install Android tablet where you are in complete control of apps and updates. I'm developing a custom 3d printed mount for Nexus 7 which directly replaces the cubby. PM me for more info if interested
