tinted tail light

so thats illegal?

also can u tint ur windows? i remember my friend gettin a ticket or something...

Trips 07-24-2010 08:31 PM

Illegal in Cali, with the rear lights? it's just a matter of what mood the cops in?
The rears windows can be tinted, the fronts can't but it doesn't stop people
from doing it.

JayYoon 07-24-2010 09:41 PM

Are all tint the same? (like as in how dark the tint is)? or do you tell how dark u want it to be?

Talk to a good tint shop, and I mean a good shop, that backs their work and uses the best film.

JayYoon 07-25-2010 02:05 AM

i just heard that there are 6 levels of tints?

Trips 07-25-2010 02:11 AM

They range by percentages. Go to a tint shop and look at their samples and see what your comfortable with, and see what they recommend for your area.

Dont do it. Cost you double what it cost and more time to take it off when you get pulled over. And its a fix it ticket when you get caught. Just trying to save ya some time and money

If you do ANYTHING to your tails, make sure its tint! Atleast once that fix it ticket comes around, you can easly remove the film, unlike spray paint :icon14:

Yea I got pulled over a couple weeks back and ticketed for speeding and tinted tail lights in Texas. Ticket was $198 for the tails, so yea I regret painting mine.

Texas Tail Tinting Laws - Cherokee SRT8 Forum
It is legal in Texas to a certain extent. You gotta be able to see the red lights 1000ft from the car. But who knows how cops will judge that. I had fairly dark tinted tail lights on my older car and cops have never given me trouble in 2 years, even when i got pulled over.

Yea I tried pulling that out in a nice respectful manner with the cop, and he just got all loud and aggressive about it. Yelling "No it's illegal, who told you that? Wasn't the DPS" :nutswinger: I didn't feel like driving back to San Antonio to court just to prove my point and risk losing. And it wasn't like I was speeding like crazy either 80 in a 70. He was just being an *** and wanted to find as much things he could to ticket me for. It was a fix it ticket for the lights, but how do you fix paint without ordering another set?..cost more.

yeah... i mma stay away from this... as cool as it is... its just not worth it... i never hear a good end to this... ~~;;
