So I went to Costco and bought a lot of stuff, usually take the SUV but I was in the Z.........

Bought a small air conditioner and put it on the front seat. A nylon strap around the box made little tears in the leather. Anyone know a god product to "fix" the ripped leather?

I am quite sure that nothing is gonna fix that.

hide it slightly but now that you know its there

you will ALWAYS see it.

I know the pain. the same thing happened with my megane coupe.

kenchan 07-20-2010 10:42 AM

ouch, that hurt my eyes... :icon14: (part reading about taking Z to Costco!)

mdbrich 07-20-2010 10:43 AM

Ouch. I never put stuff in the seat ever. Only thing that goes in the seats is my ipod, and females

370Zsteve 07-20-2010 10:47 AM

Comments about a product to repair it appreciated over comments that feel my pain. Thx.

Lemers 07-20-2010 10:49 AM

you could either Replace your leather with katzkins or get a black sharpie.

m4a1mustang 07-20-2010 10:50 AM

They make a product that will address this issue... somewhere... out there...

Jeffblue 07-20-2010 10:51 AM

the section that has tears could be removed and replaced with a fresh piece. Call a place that does upholstery maybe? it'd probaly cost you at least 100 dollars tho.

370Zsteve 07-20-2010 10:52 AM

IBTL YOU PEENS :stirthepot:

370Zsteve 07-20-2010 10:58 AM

Scuffmaster | Leather Colours | Leather Dyes

This looks promising. Good reviews online.

Thanks for the help guys! :ugh2:

Lemers 07-20-2010 11:02 AM

What you didn't want to replace the section or completly replace the leather?

yah, but they all turn out like repaired school bus seats. :rofl2:

Even remotely joking that I would be a child abductor or kidnapper, and placing them in my trunk / hatch is not very funny. I do not take kindly to such comments, or any reference to such material on this board period.

Looks like the damage is just superficial with only the outer coating of leather dye being damaged. This shouldn't be that bad to fix.

The legendary Billy Mays has just the product to fix that scratch:

Mighty Mendit As Seen On TV

I don't know if I'd actually use it though.

kenchan 07-20-2010 11:44 AM

Mighty mendit is one of the best products I have used. I was never good with sewing, and it always seemed like it took months to pick up the sewing needled and get something stitched. I repaired the hemmed of my pants the other day, washed the pants and it worked perfectly!

Take your car to an auto upholstery shop. I had something similar to that fixed some years back and I think it only cost about $75 for the repair.

You might not even need an auto upholstery shop. There are guys that'll come to your place to fix up leather furniture and what not.

370Zsteve 07-20-2010 07:35 PM

I know what I'll do! I'll bitch and moan on the370z.com, create a big long thread, and then I'll print it out and bring it to the dealer with me when I demand a new seat! :owned:

Lemers 07-22-2010 10:23 AM

370Zsteve,

Did you manage to get this fixed? I just did the same thing to the drivers side getting into the car today.... :(

wilsonp 10-10-2011 12:11 AM

Is it actually cut, or just scratched? Asian leather is surface dyed and re-dying should fix it.

I had a local Dr. Vinyl franchisee come out in a van to fix the worn bolster on my driver's seat on my previous car, and it looked like new.
