Would the fang overlays look good on a MB. I was thinking of getting it, but wasn't shure if it would be as noticable since you wouldn't have the contrast in color.

Update
So, it's been a week since I installed these products. The front fang and side mirrors are holding up great! However I can't say the same about one of my B Pillar (driver side). Top part kinda came off. So, I took it off and upon further investigation, I found out these DID NOT come with 3m VHB tapes. They came with regular double sided tape. Also, the tape is VERY thin. So, I took the overlay off. Cleaned the OEM BPillar surface. Used some of my OWN 3M VHB .45 mil tape and put it back on. It was perfect! :D. I was so impressed with it the install, I pulled the passenger side overlay off and redid it with the new tapes. Two big benefits of these new tapes:
a. The bond will be very very strong. In about 48-72 hours (when set in), if you pull hard on these overlays, chances are the whole B pillar will come off (or they will be in two pieces) ! b. Thief can ONLY steal what they can take off :happydance:. I bought my 3M VHB tapes from this guy on EBAY. Pretty cheap. However, the fit of these overlays are perfect. If you're standing next to them and you're unaware of this thread, I can probably get away with saying, "these whole cf B Pillars". You CAN NOT tell the difference! http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/DSC04497.jpg Flimsy thin tape :shakes head: http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/DSC04498.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/DSC04493.jpg Cleaned surface http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/DSC04499.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/DSC04501.jpg Ready to install! Since it rained yesterday, I polished all the cf stuff up today  I really wasn't sure what to use (also too lazy to go to nearest auto store). I simply used NXT 2.0. Worked pretty good IMO http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/DSC04503.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/DSC04505.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/DSC04511.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/DSC04512.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/DSC04516.jpg Quote:

This fang overlay fits so well, it will hold up WITHOUT any double sided tape! (not that I suggest it :icon17:) ^ how come you can still see some of the blue by the fang cover? Does it not cover all the way? Is this the Zstore version or evo-r's? |

Something like that would drive me crazy, lol I wonder if the evo-r version does the same thing?

I'm thinking about taking it off tomorrow (weather permitting). It could be installer error (perhaps one of the tape is sticking before the target surface and preventing the fang to fit snug all the way?) . The ONLY way to find out is to take it off and put it on again. I'll keep you posted. |
Thanks Ak, good luck

Might I suggest e-tape that area before re-applying the fang?
I've seen the same issue on the EvoR fang, but not as big of a gap. Their fang has more issues with the paint showing through the center vent primeter. Its pretty sad looking unless you paint/e-tape that area as well. :) |
Loving the front!

Something about the mirror pieces doesn't quite rub me the right way. Cool for some, just not for me. |

I kinda got the idea from some of the Lamborghini's and Ferrari's. Take a look: http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...ide-mirror.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...rdo-superl.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...eria-spi-2.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...spider-16m.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...rari-599xx.jpg I think it looks good on them and I simply wanted to give it a try. I personally think it looks pretty good on my Z. Your eyes first goes to the front cf fang and then the cf mirrors carry the theme. But I totally understand if someone don't like them. |
Oh, I know they look dead sexy on the Italians; I'm a big fan of the contrasting/offset color for mirrors. I was speaking more in terms of specifically for my car.
Driving a metallic black car already, I think having CF cover the plate frame (which idea I picked up from the toll tag thread of yours), fangs/lip and B-pillars will be plenty of CF accent for the car. If I had any other color, I would likely be looking for a way to offset the mirrors, but they're already black on mine (and I had them wrapped in VentureShield). |

Now back to your regularly scheduled Carbon Fiber thread... I did see Evo-R was working on some CF door handles. Interesting idea and a possible alternative to the body painting idea. I want to be careful not to over carbon fiber the car though. I don't want to mess with black - a proven good thing - too much. |
Very nice install and finished pics.
