Seats / Harness / Roll Bar-Cage questions and input.

**EDIT** This started as a post to determine what kind of seats / harnesses / rollbar / cage i could get in the car** Lot of what i had posted is irrelevant so ill leave up the links to some of the options and then throw in what im going to do just as a fyi for anyone else out there doing the same**

My purpose is to take my 370z and do both entry level track and SCCA events as well as the occasional show for the hell of it.

For seats I will be going with a set of SPARCO Corsa's or similar for my size. I still need to find some that i can sit in and try out. Issue is i need a seat that will fit me and is still FIA cert. Im 6ft 2in, 190 lbs, and have a 34in waist.

In addition to seats i need harnesses (duh!) BUT its almost retarded to put in a 4+point point harness if i dont attach it correctly SO...
A. I can put in the Powerhouse Amuse R1 Titan Brace Bar (Sorry/Thanks to Swat Performance since its your thread i found this on a jacked the pic!) At the moment this runs for $1000 or so and only mounts a harness on one side or the other.
B. The second option is to get a pre-made bolt in / U-weld autopower or Relentless Autosports 4-6 point roll cage or similar. These run from 900 up but thats without install.
C. The third option is to get a custom cage / roll bar / harness bar installed and rock out from there. these can be anywhere from 800-5,000 depending on what you want.

Big thing to remember is your harness bar or wherever you attach your harnesses to has to be within certain degree from where the harness exits the back of the seat in order to be installed both safely, and pass pre race inspections. Check with your harness manufacturer for the correct degree.

I have decided to put faith in Scott @ Relentless Autosports who is currently building a 4 point bolt in roll bar / cage with harness bar right now. This will both give me a little added protection over the Amuse strut bar and allow me to mount harnesses on both seats. Once Scott has finished the prototype bar and gotten it installed in the test car he will be able to start making more on request.

Old stuff:

I had looked at Status seats, as well as Bride. Although Status look FANTASTIC for their price (and they are on sale atm) they are not FIA cert. And the Bride ZETA IIIs dont quite fit me so the size up would be perfect...but is not FIA Cert.

Thanks for taking the time to read this! :)

For Status seats talk to Reaper42, he has one.
Phelan has sat in a couple Bride seats but not sure the Zeta III.

Those brides are nice... and truth be told - if you have a proper seat like that - you will feel much more in control of the car - however - with long trips (>2 hrs) you will need to make stops and such.

Status seats are A LOT cheaper than any brides, alcantara DOEST NOT cost extra with the status seats, if you get the whole seat alcantara its cheaper than the leather seats I have which were $1300. When you do buy the leather seats like mine, doing the inserts in alcantara is no extra charge, pluse you can customize A LOT with the status seat, all at no extra charge, plus you will get the status seat a lot quicker than the bride seat. You will fit comfortably in the status ring gt, I am 5'11'' 220lbs and I am comfortable in it, and cmon, its a z you cant really recline anyways. I highly recomend going with the Status, I have a full thread of a review of the status seats, with lots of pictures so go take a look at that. And if you have any other questions PM me.

Hey Reaper, i appreciate it, ill go take a look at the thread now!. Yea i think im going to get the Red Status GTs in Alcantara and get them to customize the stitching a little. We shall see tho. Talking to a few vendors now. I didnt see anything on their site tho saying the seat itself is FIA Certified tho, i see that their harnesses are but nothing on the seat or am i just being retarded [good chance of that :) ]

I believe Status went out of business a long time ago. Let me know if that's not the case.

I have a Zeta III in my S2000 and it's honestly more comfortable for me than the oem seat. My butt doesn't fall asleep :icon17: Just went up to San Francisco from Los Angeles and it was comfortable for me. I'm a big fan of the Zeta.

Btw, I'm 6'2" 175; 32 waist. If the Zeta is too snug, maybe try a Type-L version which is a little taller and wider.

Nope ive checked, they are still around and doing well but i appreciate the advice. Think im going to wait till my R&R in September and try some out when i get back to Houston but we shall see. Now i cant decide between black with white stitching and red belts or red with black stitching and black belts lol! Tsk tsk i just need to make up my mind.

Reaper42 06-23-2010 08:44 AM

Call Codey over at status asap, tell him I sent ya, you will get the best price from them directly, opposed to vendors, n also calling them directly allows you to customize.

Btw I would do a google search of status ring gt seat alcantara. Alcantara I think looks really weird how the pattern changes all the time. Look up actual pics of seats in car, just like super models, professional manufactur photos of a product are WAY different than In person

Mozen 06-23-2010 06:19 PM

Hmm ok, i didnt even think of that. At the moment im going through Phil at Vivid Racing and the quote for the Ring GT Carbon Kevlar in red with black belts + sliders and rails was very low. Im waiting to see what he can get for the regular carbon back instead of carbon Kevlar.

Have tracked or run your car since you have the seats in?

Any comfort issues with the status belts?

/bump

New question at the top (just edited it so i didnt have to create a new thread)

Reaper42 06-23-2010 10:19 PM

I would order from status instead of vivid, better customer service n they are offering discounted prices now. I originally wanted a 4 point harness, but they said they were out of stock in black so I got 5 point harness instead, and I actually am glad I did, especially since you'll need it under heavy track use. I did find another roll cage, I'll try n find it n post soon. But yea order from status not vivid.

I must apologize about the bad customer service you have gotten in the past but my name is Phil, I am new to Vivid Racing, and I plan to give the 370z community and any of my customers the best possible service I can. I have spoken with Mozen plenty of times about putting his car together. I am giving him the best deal I possibly can AND Status knows about Mozen and I putting together a deal that will make Mozen happy.

If you had a bad experience here, come back and I will work with you.

Thank You,
Phil

Just for the record, Phil @ Vividracing has been great at customer service and support and despite me pinging him with a million questions about this or that hes been able to keep up and keep me very satisfied as a customer. Ive just decided to go a little more performance before i pick up the seats tho :)
