splash guards or not?

Do you like the factory splash guards?

370er 06-13-2010 09:56 AM

I think it looks better without them. The plastic parts of the car always look a slightly different color than the metal parts. Like the fuel lid for example. But the splash guards would definitely make a difference, especially the front ones.

Sibze 06-13-2010 10:34 AM

I have them on my blue. NO difference in colour. I personally went and got them after I got a good rock chip on one of the side panels - haven't got one since!!!

Slade 06-13-2010 10:35 AM

I like them, they are a nice little touch and complete the look of the car IMO. Mine didn't come with the splash guards so I ordered some...and on my way back from the dealership it looks like I'll need them to protect the rocker panels (esp. behind the front tires).

These sort of rock chips are the reason I'm debating back and forth on wheel spacers.
I have the splash guards and like them.

kenchan 06-13-2010 11:53 AM

the factory ones add accent to the bodyline so i got a set on mine.

Fly1 Motorsports 06-13-2010 12:03 PM

Debated on this as well...but finally went with them. I think they finish off the car nicely, not to mention the functional benefit. No difference in color here...

ZedZed 06-13-2010 01:06 PM

Could someone post a picture of them on their car?

I ordered my car without them thinking that it was a slightly pointless option to get - but if it protects from rocks chipping the paint then maybe it's worth getting a set later on...

FINALLY, a thread to ask whether people like splash guards or not!

Oh wait:

I think the splash guards look great, but don't expect them to do a very thorough job of protecting your rocker panels. I have 2400 miles on my car and I can't believe how many tiny chips and specks are already on my rocker panels. If you're trying to protect your rocker panels, get a clear bra on 'em -- I wish I would've. At this point I'll just eventually get them repainted and a clear bra installed.

We don't want that, do we?

I mean, I've had the same "Celtics vs Lakers" discussion with the same guys at work every day for the past 2 weeks, and every time we talk about it...it's different!

Every forum I've ever been on has a "Search Nazi" or three.
It seems their goal is to turn their forum into static site filled with a searchable library of information where questions and discussion become unnecessary.
Oddly enough, when these Search Nazis aren't policing newbies, they tend to spend the majority of their time posting and commenting on the off-topic sections of their forum.

Personally, I like to answer newbie questions when I can or at least direct them to the information, rather than just posting a "try the search button" or "RTFM" response.
It's part of being a welcoming community.

It's an opinion thread, I'll throw mine in how I see fit ;]

Nick911sc 06-13-2010 02:53 PM

It could have been worse.

Def get the splash guards. I think it completes the wheel area. Also, it keeps your rear bumper cleaner
