Cracked...my boo

Dude, just noticed today after a car wash that my windshield has about an 11 inch crack straight down! It was last washed 4 days ago and it wasn't there. I can see the spot at the top where maybe a pebble or rock, whatever, hit the glass... just confused if it'll make more sense just to replace the windshield instead of a repair. Either which way..my heart hurts....I don't like my baby hurtin like this :( What to do...what to do?!!!

Was the car or windshield really hot? I hear that if you have a small chip, putting cold water on a hot windshield can cause it to crack out like that.

Well..it was 84 degrees today when I washed it but I've never noticed a chip or anything til the huge crack today. So I really don't know what exactly happened. Just know that Nissan is gonna charge me an arm and a leg for this thing! Wish I could just trade it in for a different Z haha..but not so easily done

Have you considered using your insurance? When I had my windshield replaced (after 10 days of ownership mrrgh), Geico paid all but 50 bucks of the replacement fee.

Could be different in your state or with whatever insurance you have.

Most insurance plans have 100% glass replacement coverage. Speaking of which, it's time to get mine replaced. I have 2 huge chips in my windshield, plus 46k miles worth of road wear. I think a new window will help me actually see the road. lol

Don't go to Nissan for window glass. Take it to a glass company that is knowledgeable about replacing windows. I doubt that Nissan would even do it themselves. They'd probably send it out and tell you that they did it.
I caught a rock at the bottom of the windshield on my 350 and it cost me about $216. Some of the "major" glass places were asking about twice that much, so look around.
