hey at least you can mount it perfectly to your liking. :p
|
yea just did a preliminary test fit and it looks like it hugs the grooves on both sides perfectly!

them japonicans know how to make CF correctly. btw, can you measure how much clearance you have from your exhaust tips after the install? i want to get their muffler down the road too, maybe. |
In for closeups and review for fitment :p

So here's a quick overview.
The quality of the diffuser itself was not great, but also not bad. There were some imperfections in the carbon fiber such as scratches and bubbles in the clear coat. When the diffuser was put up to the sun, you can see light pass through it in certain areas. For quality I give the diffuser an 8.5. The fitment is perfect. It hugs the grooves of the OEM bumper all the way around. It is held to the bumper by 5 torq screws/bolts/nuts at the bottom of the bumper. It also came with double sided tape which you have to place on the diffuser yourself. I lined the tape at the top of the diffuser from one end to the other. Only issue I have right now is the tape may not be strong enough. In some areas at the top of the diffuser you can see some lifting due to the tape not adhering strongly to the bumper/diffuser. When installing, you will probably need atleast one person to help hold the diffuser. 2 people holding the diffuser would be optimal. testfitting http://www.the370z.com/members/370z-...st-fitting.jpg right side http://www.the370z.com/members/370z-...-rear-spat.jpg left side http://www.the370z.com/members/370z-...-rear-spat.jpg bolts http://www.the370z.com/members/370z-...crews-nuts.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/370z-...a-diffuser.jpg The gap you see is due to the shine-auto rear spats. The fujimura diffuser fits perfectly. http://www.the370z.com/members/370z-...ed-product.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/370z-...ed-product.jpg |
Nice review , im glad it fits alot better then the evo-r product. any way you coud take pics without the sunline pieces on the car?
|
/\ Looks great man! Thanks for posting the review.
As for double sided tape, what are you using? I really like the double sided tapes that come with GO PRO HD. It's called 3M VHB tape. I used this today to mount my GO PRO HD on my helmet. VERY VERY strong tape (if not, probably world's strongest double sided) YOu can buy this tape online and maybe use it on your rear diffuser? |
370Z JT- looking good! Good to hear perfect fitment. :) kinda surpried the quality is only 8.5/10 but I'll take fitment over a few imperfections too. :D
|
AK- thanks for your tip on this VHB tape. Think I'll get a roll myself. :p
|
I bought a roll of the VHB tape...1/2"x36Yards (smallest decent price) Lol. Guess this will last me a couple of installs. :D
|
Yea might have to get that tape as well.
|
i would probably do the 3m top side install first and just leave it overnight with boxes to support...maybe 2 nights considering how warm my garage is (adhesives usually need 65F or more, ideally 70F+ and a good 24-48hrs to cure).
then pull the bottom side under the bumper, drill holes and finish off. :) |

I gotz my roll of VHB in my garage now. :D
The tape is a lot softer than their standard automotive trim mounting tape. Just waiting a few wks for the diffuser to come in. :p |
is product number 5952 the one to go with?
|
yah, im not 100% sure but i think they will all work fine for our application since the load isn't that much. i ordered 4611 (not listed above) because i want to use on the fujimura, but also to mount some metal cabinet pieces on my tool case. :p
|
woot! my fujimura kintama dancer or watever it's called just cleared customs. :p
|
^Awesome, I'm sure you'll be the one dancing when it shows up at your door :happydance:

while working on my G35C (coolant drain/fill and oil change) USPS guy arrived with my Fujimura CF diffuser. :p
http://www.the370z.com/members/kench...565-before.jpg While using rubbing alcohol and a towel to remove wax from the rear valance i heated the backside in the sun. http://www.the370z.com/members/kench...r-heat-sun.jpg then VHB'ed... i actually overdid the area where the fins were... lol there's nothing on the factory bumper in that area. hahaha. :icon17: i put tape about 1.5mm inwards from the edge of the CF. http://www.the370z.com/members/kench...7563-2-vhb.jpg Remove the factory clip from under the rear fog lamp. Fujimura gives you one big screw and nut for that area. Then attached to the bumper like so. btw, it's a perfect fit. http://www.the370z.com/members/kench...17566-done.jpg grabbed my hex wrench and drill. need a 8mm wrench too for the nut. i just rolled on my back and worked on it. didn't even raise the car. http://www.the370z.com/members/kench...les-screws.jpg couple more shots. :p http://www.the370z.com/members/kench...7567-done2.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/kench...7568-done3.jpg going to let the 3M tape cure over night before taking the car out. 3M says VHB cures fully in 72hrs. thing sticks like gum. |
Looking like it fit perfectly.
|
Looks good kenchan  I glad I made this thread, already 2 people have bought this diffuser instead of that problem filled evo-r diffuser. Its a Win-Win :happydance:

Thanks guys. :D I'm super happy I got this diffuser.
I recommend doubling up on the mounting tape at the top. Forgot to mention this earlier. :p that's if you used 45Mil VHB tape like me. (45Mil is standard thickness one would find at the auto parts stores). |
Ya it really is a decent looking piece, even tho it's alil bit more then the evo-r diffuser, not having to worry about fitment issues is worth the extra $

yo ken how do you rate the quality of the CF piece? I gave mine a bad review.
I need to get some of that tape! |
Quote:
The surface finish has 4-5 blemishes all less than 5mm. Can't really see it from 6" away. I'm going to be polishing and waxing after the tape cures so no issue. :p The CF weaves are very clean and looks great. As for the tape, just double up at the top. Should take care of that peelback issue even if you used off the shelf 3M mounting tape sold at autoparts stores. Fujimura advertises that you can remove and paint, etc if you get tired of it so I think they didnt mean the tape to be a permanent bond like VHB. It's a great piece imho! :D |
one more pict.
btw, that VHB seems to have cured completely. thing is solid. :p http://www.the370z.com/members/kensa...imura-rear.jpg |
That looks fantastic. Any closeup pics of the weave?

there is no wax on these yet...so will look even nicer after i polish and wax it. http://www.the370z.com/members/kensa...er-exhaust.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/kensa...loseup-fin.jpg another angle. :D http://www.the370z.com/members/kench...-4-10-rear.jpg |
Just got mine in today. Quality looks real good.
Plus, the added bonus of getting Japanese newspaper used as insulation. |

Be sure to doubleup on the tape at the top and off-set it so that it's not super thick but thick enough to make good contact. :) |

Going to order the tape now actually. Don't think I can let the tape sit for anything more than 48 hours or so due to work, as opposed to the 72 maximum curing hours. Should be enough though. Hopefully. |
Yah, just don't get it wet and push on the diffuser from time to time to ensure contact. Nothing special. :)
|
I redid mine with VHB tape and the hold is a lot stronger than the supplied tape.
|
Doesn't it come with screws that go under the car to help support it?
