functional GTR scoops on a Solid Red 370z SIMOTA1
hey everyone... as some of you know i have purchased the oem GTR r35 scoops for my z... i had to cut holes in my hood because i wanted them functional... it was a pain in the *** to line up the scoops because they are curved a lil bit.... so i positioned them on the hood where it is curved a lil bit... i have no idea how mount oem wise and i couldnt figure out a way to mount them so they are siliconed on my hood... ALOT of silicon... they fit pretty nice :D here are some pics.... sorry about the angles of the photos my sis took them for me... lol here are the pics ;)

FML! I want your car.. well mostly your skills for DIY. FML!
|
^^^ lol :rofl2:

Nice one simota! Let's get some pics under the hood and such. Obviously with the curved shape coming into play but it almost seems like they're too far back :twocents:
You say they're functional, but you mean just for putting more fresh air into the engine bay right? |

How much does it cost to buy you a plane ticket to come do my car? :)
Maybe it'll be cheaper than sending it to a body shop mwuahaha. I got a quote for $1375.00 For: Paint rims black Paint fangs black Paint rear valance black Polish car paint to remove swirls |
Looks pretty interesting. :)
|
I love it!!! Pure Genius!!! I want these.

Not meaning to :stirthepot:, but imo having ducts that far back will cause turbulence and drag inside the engine bay. Looks trick, though, Simota you are amazing. :tiphat:
|
nice, it looks factory done

NACA ducts are pretty good at bringing in air with minimal impact on the drag numbers. Their size, location, and orientation are usually finely tuned in wind tunnels, though.
My guess with these is they let a little air in, don't really hurt drag numbers, and otherwise serve a primary function of looking cool. :) |
Looks good Sim

I may put these on my hood. When I think about it, the ducts can cool the G3's on a hot day, thereby reducing intake air temps and producing more power. Simota, you are a genius! |
Looks nice, reminiscent of older model Zs
|
they look like mini urinals for cats? ;) jk.
looks good. but wat are you cooling under there? there's a battery chamber and brake, etc but it's already isolated from the engine... |
Looks good. Best DIY without need of vented hood.
|
what all did you do to you're headlights?. they look badass
|
He painted them :D
|
Looks beautiful! :tup::tup:

They look awesome but my guess is they don't do squat for cooling anything in that location.
|
