Protective covering

Hi all.

I want to put paint protection on my new 40th anniversary but as in most things there is confusion as to which one and why.

I'd appreciate any feedback on 3M vs. Venture Shield vs. Avery etc. I'm a firm believer that quality starts with the installation but clearly (npi) the material is just as important.

Thanks.

Bruce

I've heard good things about Venture Sheild however I can't speak from experience

I had the full front end done: entire hood, full fenders bumper and A-pillars. I also covered the entire rocker panel and a partial in front of the rear wheels.

I used ventureshield, and it is nearly unnoticeable. You really have to look back and forth between covered and uncovered surfaces to try and see a difference. Of course, the seams are somewhat visible but not overbearing. A full wrap really minimizes that issue.

It did peel a bit on the mirrors however, as the precut pattern had to be stretched alot. I'll have the installer redo them in sections so the material won't have to be worked too much.

I purchased a 3M kit and im installing it myself in stages.

So far the partial hood and roof are on they are not noticable untill you get about 3 feet away.

Have Ventureshield on full front bumper, full hood, and full front fenders, lights, and mirrors. It can be expensive but then again, so can repainting your car if you catch a rock or multiple rocks in your paint. Whichever you get, it is definitely better than not having something because it will happen.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Today I had VentureShield done on full front bumper, full hood, and 1/3 front fenders, lights, and mirrors. A truly first rate job by this outfit in Lynnwood, WA: Metropolitan Detail, Auto Detailing, Waxing, Paintless Dent Removal, Paint Protection - Home

Cheap? No. But it's done exclusively by one of the highly experienced owners in a clean room reserved only for applying protective coatings. Really a first class operation. When I arrived he was putting VentureShield on a really sweet brand new Porsche GT3.

Now I can get on the road with confidence tomorrow for a few hours and get this break-in period behind me! :driving:

You're right. I drove just under 300 miles this morning over the mountains and back with nary a worry about picking up a chip on the front or on one of the headlights. It was a very secure feeling.

I'm dropping the car off Tuesday at a paint shop to have a little contrast put on the lower rear bumper and front cowl. Then I'll gut the interior and install dynamat and ensolite throughout to reduce road noise (going to take lots of pictures). After that a tint job then finally I'll put her up on jacks and install the Stillen CBE, oil cooler and steering fluid cooler followed by the G3 intake.

I figure 4 weeks and I'll have the car where I want it. Summers go by very quickly in Seattle and I don't want to miss a day.

Nano-Fusion Protection™ from Avery Dennison is one of the new film offerings on the market. Very positive comments on various high end auto forums on the internet in regard to this film.. With this film and using ProForm forms one can expect a terrific result on one's high end car when a top notch installer does the install.

If you are in the Paramus, New Jersey area or within an hour or so drive away, consider Nelson Espinosa to install protective film on your vehicle. Nelson owns Clear Image Inc. and does all the installs personally. He has been doing film protection installs for a number of years now. He is very popular with the Viper, BMW, Maserati and other high end car enthusiasts. He is well known for his terrific work! His prices are very competitive but don't expect bottom $ pricing/ discount pricing as you will be paying a bit of a premium because he is quite the craftsman/artist in essence. You are paying for his expertise/skill plus a very good film. As mentioned earlier he is using Nano-Fusion Protection™ from Avery Dennison with ProForm forms which are tops. His workmanship is exquisite! Another plus with Nelson is he is professional, communicative and very easy to talk to and deal with. A young, very clean cut guy, 30ish if that and one that takes great pride in his work/talents. He takes no job lightly. He treats each and every job to his very best. Had the opportunity to have him do a 370Z for a family member last week and can tell you the work/job was absolutely phenomenal. After the install I had his work evaluated by three other protective film installers at other shops and they said his work was remarkable and it would be hard for them to do a comparable job. They felt Nelson's pricing was well within range for an installer with such lets say talent/workmanship. The installers also commented very positively on the new Avery film even though they were selling other brands. Anyway, Nelson Espinosa is a terrific installer to use. As mentioned he owns Clear Image Inc. and can be contacted via phone at 973-207-7000. (He is good about returning phone calls) His shop is located at 484 Route 17 North Paramus, New Jersey 07652. The shop is small and clean and no worry having/leaving your car there for work.

For the record, no I am not related to Nelson or receiving financial re-numeration for my comments here. Just want to let others here know about this very, very talented installer.
