Yeah, you got to check the spec's on your computer. If it's not up to what GoPro needs. You will have issues. Me, I'm getting (NEED!) a new computer for Christmas. I down load from the camera through the computer, direct to youtube. No editing.

I got the hd hero 2 surf edition. Also got the suction cup and other various mounts and a 64gb class 10 SD card, didn't even know they made them that big. Can't wait to try it out. Been playing around and reading about it today, I'll be sure to check out that forum. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
You have to watch out on which SD cards to use.
|
just got a HERO2: Surf Edition. Can't wait to play around with it using the settings that have been recommended.

Here's about 7 camera angles i messed around with. Using AK's mount in the first one.

Cool! I just found out my (early) b-day present from the Fiance is a GoPro Hero 3+ Black, so I've been looking at various mounting options and tricks. My goal is to find a solution for mounting it outside the car, facing forward with no wind noise, in order to get great exhaust sound with the clips. I'll play with the various doors, and putting foam back there etc, but thinking it may come down to plugging in an external stereo mic and mounting that back by the license plate area kinda tucked away, and maybe with a foam cover over it.

Here's another of just the wheels. Tried to catch some of the cool effects that happen on video.
|
here are a few different examples of shots positions.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtmfYZZLaP8 This is a shot firing backward attached to the glass with no external mic other than the enclosed open back panel that comes with the Hero 3. Minimal wind noise and you get a nice (less overpowering) exhaust note https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzDUY4B9P5I |
I like this idea. Kudos to you. This thread will be like a movie thread. NICE!!

|
Cbtech, great audio on those clips I'll have to try some of that mounting. What exhaust setup are you running?
|
All I had at the time is short tails :) love the way they sound!

I was playing around with different GoPro mounting locations the other day using a Hero 3+ Black, a Hero 3 Black and a Hero 2. I didn't take any pics of the mounted cameras unfortunately, but the Hero 3+ Black was facing rearwards with an open back door, suction cup mount right beside the license plate. 1080p/60. The Hero 3 was facing forward with open back door with foam inside the door, 1080p/30 suction cupped to the front right fender on the top of it. The Hero 2 was mounted on a roll bar mount off my harness bar in the car, set to 720p/60.
A quick video I put together with the clips: |

lol, your gopro will be all scratched up, no? ever heard of suspension stroke? :D
|
Hence the butthole clenching. It did pretty well for the video up til the end. It got a very tiny scratch at the top of the case

So I wanted to test my go pro out and decided to take set it up on my way to 7-11 haha
Shot it in 1440 cropped to 16x9 , Main test was my rode shotgun external mic mount on the licence plate other then a weird interference noise at the start in the parkade it worked pretty good. Down side is it sucked the life out of the go pro pretty quick. down a 3rd after 20 mins of shooting. gonna try and find a mic amp or possibly return this one and find a powered mic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qso5ZUJhZuE |
Just helping embed the vid, not mine same as above. :tiphat:
|
Thanks man not sure why it wouldn't show up that's what the giant white space is haha I used [/YOUTUBEHD][/YOUTUBE] and all i get is a giant white box lol
Some one asked me what mic it was incase any of you are curious http://www.rodemic.com/microphones/videomicgo |
Bought the Go Pro Hero 4 the other day and did some testing with it. I used the suction cup attachment and mounted in at the top of the back window in the center, using the vertical defrosting line as point of reference.
Only settings changed were: 1080p 60fps - narrow view Up/Dn - Dn (camera is hanging upside down) Overall, love the narrow view, tell me what you think. |
I assume putting the windshield in the middle of the camera and turning on Spot will fix the brightness issue and not being able to see the road.

Ahh, just found this thread...
This weekend's contribution. Mounted GoPro Hero 3 w/ suction cup on the rear 1/4 window. |
soooo i'm lazy and dont feel like going through all 13 pages to find the answer.
so i'll post the question here. whats is the best mount to use/buy to get some footage from my rear bumper. people continually keep begging me for actual driving footage of my exhaust insted of standing rev's. got the gopro just dont know which mount is best. also anyone have suggestions for a external mic setup to capture the sound properly. any help is greatly appreciated. |

Use the suck cup. For a mike. I got mine from amazon. You have to get an adapter too. Put a BIG piece of foam over the mike to cut down on wind noise. Also get a polarized len too. Helps with the white-out that you may get from going into and out of shade, and bright sunlight. http://www.amazon.com/GoPro-AMCCC-30...ds=gopro+mikes Amazon.com: Neewer 3.5mm Hands Free Computer Clip on Mini Lapel Microphone (5X Lapel Microphone): Electronics http://www.amazon.com/Polarizer-Filt...larizer+filter |

Go with the fat Gecko. I use it all the time and it has some serious suction. http://goo.gl/2Nf0hs also i found the best placement for exhaust sound is on the back glass at the bottom facing back. the Mic is not over saturated with sound and gives you a good reference to what the exhaust sounds like. |

thanks for the info and the mic location. |
