Yellow owners, Body panels not matching?

Hey guys!

I just got my Z in yellow. I love my car but it seems like some of the panels don't match up in color. The front bumper, skirts, Gas filler cap and A pillars seem to be a darker color. I managed to get one good picture of the gas cap.

Is this normal for Yellow Zs or is my car really messed up?

Thanks!

Wow...thats rather dramatic. Personally have never seen a yellow Z but from pics ive seen none have had that. Curious to see what others say, but giving the dealer a ring or visit wouldnt hurt.
Grats and Beautiful Z BTW.

Because the bumper is made of poly the color may not matchthe color of the body of the car. Yours look extreme. The rear spoiler is poly too how's the paint match on that?

My 2009 370Z does not have a hint of that problem, nor did it from the day of delivery.

I would bring it back to the dealer and demand that it be covered under the warranty.

yah, they should be able to fix that.

That just isnt right. I had a 2005 Ultra Yellow 350Z and it didnt at all have that issue. I would have the dealer resolve that issue right away.

!

All those parts are painted separately from the body... Most all Z's have some mismatch in those areas. some are worse than others..

Thanks guys, I already called the dealership, I asked them if they resprayed any part of the car before i took delivery but they said no. I will go and ask them. The wing seems to be the same color, apart from the fuel cap which is the worst the A pillars are also pretty bad, I'll see if I can get a good picture of that. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks though.

The bumpers are slightly different on mine, but the gas cap cover matches fine.

If the picture of the gas filler cover was taken at a different angle, my guess, it would appear to match better. How about a picture straight down, instead of from that angle?

I will see if I can get a different pic, I had a friend come down the other day and the first thing he said was, umm your fill cap a different color? He's an artist though.

I'm going to see if i'm free at lunch today, If I am I will take the car to the dealer and ask about the paint.

My white was off, the dealer painted both my front and rear bumpers under warranty without any resistance.. just go there and talk to them... All they did was snap pics, he had to email them to Nissan and they approved both the front and back to be repainted. It matches much better now... still a touch off but not even close to as dramatic as before

I took it to the dealer, They said that because all the parts that are a slightly darker yellow due to several reasons.

They had to use a special type of adhesive to make sure the paint stick better to the plastic, so that in case of a collision, eg a rock, hitting the bumper the plastic would warp because it's bendable, this in turn would cause the paint to detach from the bumper and chip off/crack. The additive would prevent this. Apparently the problem is it doesn't play that well with the self healing clear that is used and so is noticable when the light reflects off them at certain angles.

They said if i wanted they could sand down the car rip it apart and respray without the additive. But I said no.

I hope I was semi clear.

I don't believe that for second! Its a bunch of crap!

I would get a second opinion from a reputable body shop. They will tell you everything you would ever want to know and then some about automotive pait, primer, and additives. My local Nissan dealer has a yellow 370 and I remember your issue so I looked it over really good and it doesent have that mismatch at all.
