For Those w/ Venture-shield Installed
 

If you read my other post, you know I just bought a Z on Sunday and it's already giving me trouble....

To add insult to injury, my venture-shield started to peel at the rocker panels in the rain today. I called the installer and he told me I should have left the car in his heated garage overnight (something he failed to mention to me when I told him I would pick up the car the afternoon of installation). I started to inspect more of his work and noticed there are seams on the front bumper where there is a break in coverage (in some areas as much as 1/4") He told me this was normal as there was no way to completely wrap the bumper--now I have my doubts. The edges that peeled off the rocker panels looked serrated like they were cut with a scissor (granted they were hidden under the car but this gives me an idea of this guys workmanship)

For those of you who have ventureshield, are there any gaps in coverage on your bumper or is it covered in one piece? There is also an area where the bumper meets the fender where dirty water has seeped under the plastic. This installer is "certified", I got him right from ventureshield's website... Are my expectations too high, or is this a crap installation?

I don't even have the car for a week and I'm ready to strangle someone.

The ventureshield patterns show no vertical joints for the front bumper... Does anyone else have these?

I have 3M and the bumper is all one piece, except the fang area, which is also one piece. The pattern and the make of "clearbra" are two separate things. I had a "bad install" right after I got the car, dude wouldn't redo it and claimed the finished result was normal. Drove to Charlotte, 3 hours away the following weekend, and had a pro re-do my bumper ...... now it's PERFECT. Sounds like you got a crappy installation. Sorry man, I feel for you, same thing happened to me. I can't stress enough to people now how important the "installer" is to the end result.

The installer told me he did over 200 cars.... His shop was listed on ventureshields website as a certified installer--I figured it couldn't get any safer than that.

The installer is willing to fix everything... I'm just not sure he is capable of installing the product correctly.

I hear you. The guy that did mine originally did all the cars for the local Porsche, Mercedes, and BMW dealer. His work was off about a 1/4 inch on one wheel well and had bad stretch marks near the headlights. Installer in Charlotte took his bra off, istalled the 3M and the job is so good you can not tell there is a clearbra on the car. I guess even a lot of installs is no guarantee someone is good at it. If he is willing to re-do yours, you might give him a chance to make it right. In my case, I paid to have it done twice to get it right.

Yeah, it sounds like a crappy install to me. Do you have a lifetime warranty on it? If you do, then take it back as many times until he gets it right. I have a few blemishes on mine, one bubble on one of my side mirrors and one near one of my fangs. If I wanted to, I could take it back and have it redone, but it doesn't bother me much.

If he wont fix it, send the pics to ventureshields and complain. They may be able to pressure him into fixing it or they can take the sponorship away from him. He is using their name so they will want good input about their product.

He should fix it, my bra is covered for 5 years...

The pics reveal a horrible job...as if he forget to finish what he started. When I had mine done they used everything for heat guns (carefully), syringes, and even two or three people working an area to ensure it adhered. The front nose piece was one piece with a separate piece for the fang area. They also drove the car up onto ramps so they could work areas you will not normally see.

When I had Ventureshield installed on my car, the bumper was multiple pieces. This was the patterns he got from Ventureshield. He said he thought the only reason that might be was to make it easier/cheaper to replace parts of the material.

Also the mirror patterns from Ventureshield sucked, they only covered like 1/3 of the mirror. He redid them and cut his own pattern, and was able to cover the entire mirror, but he did have to make a slight seam along one part of it to stop it from creasing.

Yeah, my front bumper is 4 pieces... Which if you think about it makes sense. If one of the pieces go bad, then they would just have to fix that one.

I guess that makes sense... The only thing is, ventureshield shows this pattern as one whole piece on their website...
