Anyone make lower seat rails for stock seats?
Does anyone make seats rails that are lower for stock seats? On the track my helmet hits the roof sometimes and would love to solve this problem without getting aftermarket seats.

Oh how i wish :)
Where you get the v3s from? and did you get them installed / tuned by anyone or diy? |

We need viper-esque roof bumps for our heads.

modshack- is there a way to raise the stock seats like an inch? im a tad short from waist up....
|
you could easily do that by putting spacers between the floor and the rails. The 240Z came with actual spacers that you used to adjust the seat height.

of course there is. take some measurements, cut where the brackets bolt down onto the frame and weld on shorter ones.

Modshack, can the feat of the seats be unbolted from the rails?

i'm 6'2" and have a longer torso. i only have a 1 finger gap between my head and the headliner so wearing a helmet for the track would be a no go. i took a look at how the seat rail is designed and realized that there is a possibility of lowering the seat height approx. 2 inches by cutting and modifying the rails. this would require a metal fabricator. luckily my friend's shop has one so i'll most likely be getting this done in the near future. i'll post pictures and results when i do.

Can you PM me when you do? |

So anyone can go to a good shop, give them this plus instructions and modify the seat. |

Any good fabricator can do this. Important notes: 1. I made that post earlier after looking at only the front of the seat at night with only my iphone flashlight to inspect the situation. 2. Today I checked both the front and rear of the rails and noticed that the floor pan is not even. There is a slope going downwards from the transmission tunnel towards the door, which means the rails are different sizes (one will have to be cut more than the other, which would make fabrication a tad more complicated). 3. There isn't as much of a clearance in the rear, which is the main factor in lowering your seat height. The rails sits on top of the floor pan hump (why there's even a damn hump is beyond me, just makes the seat that much higher), so even if it was cut so that the rail is completely leveled and resting on the hump I've only measured just under a 1.25" decrease. So I'm going to throw this up to my shop and see if they have any bright ideas. If that's all you need, then that's great but I'm looking for a 2" minimum drop, ideally 3". If any of you guys go ahead with this before I do, post the results. |
