for the whole interior trim how big of a size of sheet do i really need?

kenchan 07-06-2010 12:53 PM

12" x 48" size will do plenty good and you can screw up a couple of times and still have a decent sized leftover. (talks from experience :icon14: )

I got my carbon sheet today,:happydance: it looks awesome & feels like really good quality. This stuff really is the closest to real carbon you could get.

kenchan 07-06-2010 01:46 PM

sounds good! :D

Thanks, simota. :D I did not remove any of the trims (including the visors) to do the overlays. :p I just sat in my car with a heatgun and squeegee and applied.

I do most of the cutting and trimming outside of the car cause I don't want trimmings dropping between the seats, etc. hahaha

wow even the side doors? no peel whats so ever?

209Z 07-06-2010 10:37 PM

wait so is it worth it to get the carID w/o navigation main kit 14 piece. Or buy carbon sheet and do it myself? What do you think?

Windex_ 07-07-2010 12:02 AM

Kenchan, your skills in doing the overlays is much better than most of what I have seen in the past. With that being said my hat is off to you sir! I bought roughly 15 feet 180x48 of this stuff (not 3m a different more textured brand, I apply my own adhesive). When I got it I looked for anything and everything that I could possible do but decided to keep it simple with only the wood trim in my IS350. Im going to give my honest opinion and you can take it for what its worth to you. I like a lot of what you did, but I think a couple of the things have been over done. At first sight, with everything all together, I would think you just got bored and looked for anything you could to wrap with the overlay. I think all of the things that you wrapped can be pulled off as a very classy job but all of it together is just a little too much for me.

Again this is just my opinion, Im not trying to hurt feelings here nor am I trying to be disrespectful.

i used a heatgun, hot to the touch but not super hot. and it contours to the plastic very well. it looks
better in person, i couldnt get the lighting right due to the reflection. :p
