New Floormats

I was less than thrilled with the unremarkable floor mats that come with most Z's. I want full, thicker black carpet (no plastic heel area) with a nicer sized red Z on each mat to match my red car. I found them at Motorsports Auto for under $100. I just wonder if many others have also replaced those standard mats. I'll save them for bad weather use---if I ever take my car out in bad weather!

Griot's Garage has always prided itself on its floor mats (most likely made by another company). You can probably shop around and find them cheaper, or not, but it's a starting reference. The 370Z is not currently listed, but you call them and they will help you out, if needed.

Hey OldGuy, I recieved these mats you are talking about as a holiday gift. The bottom of the mat is actually sponge. I'm trying to figure which is actually better quality... The Nissan Factory ones or the ones you bought. Either way, those new ones look quite nice. I can't figure out which ones I'm going to put in my car because they are a toss-up. I'm not necessarily sure if you will find the new ones to be of the quality as factory's. Just my own two cents.

I prefer Lloyd's mats, but just use the factory ones in the Z. I like the way they are of the same type of material as the original carpeting in the 240Z.

I order the premium mats that Nissan sells
they are nice a thick,no plastic, and a nice
metal Z on them

Red370 02-06-2010 02:13 PM

there are some pretty nifty ones on this page, i ordered the ones with the red Z to match the color of the car.

The Z Store! Nissan-Datsun 240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-300ZX(Z31/Z32)-350Z-370Z Parts: 370Z Interior

That's the set I bought. Referred to as Extreme with the nice red Z on them. I like the looks better than the factory set. I hope the quality matches the appearance. The Weatherman has his doubts though. Thanks everyone for your thoughts.

I heard the Toyota floor mats make your Z faster by sticking the pedal full throttle:icon18:

I wish I didn't have that black plastic area either...Those of you who remember my first few posts on here, it drives me insane that when I wear my sandals, it turns the back of my foot black! Ugh..SO not pretty!

I'll let you know how I like the new Motorsport Auto mats when they arrive next week. They are nice looking and may solve our problem. The premium Nissan mats appear to be thicker and omit the stupid black plastic portion as well.

goddam plastic area squeaks when i push the clutch and my shoe heel is wet...

No no no! You'll love them for the look! They do look "richer" in the car! I don't want to be a Debbie Downer. It's just the bottom is made of sponge, where the factory ones are just a heavy carpet. You know what, you'll love them just because of how they look. The red Z looks great! I hope you love them OldGuy. I have yet to put them in my car. I have on my "rubbers" right now. :rofl2:

Thanks. Now I feel better. I'll let you know after I put them in. Must be cold in Milwaukee. Son went to Law School there---Marquette. Celebrated graduation at the Hotel Fister. Very nice city. Stay warm and safe.

Thanks OldGuy! I like it here, though I really do live in a northern suburb. We have really neat areas of town, then absolute junk. It really is a night and day city. Just know where you're driving, and you'll be fine. That's probably every city. Thanks for the nice comment.

I just received the ones with 370Z sewn into them, made by Motorsport. These Mats are almost three times as thick as the OEM mats. They have the sponge on the underside as well, seems to make the mat stick to the floor. Very high quality with an extra thick area for your heal. These mats have a very thick and tight pile. I highly recommend these mats.

Jeffblue 07-21-2010 05:17 PM

am i the only one that doesn't mind the OEM mats. they have the pad for your heel so you don't wear it out, or is that just on the 6spd?

cptspeed 07-21-2010 05:24 PM

I don't have a prob with the factory mats. I won't spend a hundred dollars for new ones either.

Knewrome 07-22-2010 10:46 AM

I found the Nissan Premium Z floor mats on eBay for a very good price.

They are extremely nice mats. Very, very cushy. You will likely notice instantly how much thicker and more plush the carpet is on these mats. The metal Z logos are also sweet.

BrianMSmith 07-22-2010 11:07 AM

I got a set of the Motosports mats. I also wanted a carpet heel area, and the carpet is nice and thick and doesn't move around, which is good. I was not happy with the quality of the red stitching for the Z emblem, which seems sparse and uneven, and appears to be a fairly cheapish effort.

Kirkster 07-22-2010 12:48 PM

The real secret is the Miata floor mats... way better than the cheap nissan floor mats.

I picked these up from "thezstore.com" and so far they are holding up and I feel they were worth the cost.
