Z1 370Z NISMO V1 Aluminum Undershroud
 

Has anyone tried the Z1 NISMO V1 Undershroud? I'm a looking to swap over to an Aluminum one after having a couple of the stock ones get holes on me. I would be curious to hear if anyone has one and has been going at a decent speed. When my stock trays have gotten holes which are about where the Z1 honeycomb is they airflow makes it undrivable if you are going more than about 60 mph. The whole front end starts shaking really bad and the hood tries to pop up. I would assume Z1's Undershroud doesn't do that but has anyone tracked with one?

You're better off with a ZSpeed shroud. Had mine for years and it's great.

The ZSpeed ones have been a little challenging to get. I have had one on order for the last 3 weeks. I have a Rally in a week and half that I need something for so if the Z1's work fine and they are in stock...

Any reasoning behind the thought that the ZSpeed ones are better?

ZSPEED's main panel is one piece. Z1's is two. If you hit debris with the Z1 kit there's a good chance it'll rip off the rear plate or bend it so it makes contact with the ground, the alum catches fire from friction, and then it tears off the car. Ask me how I know lol

ZSpeed. :tup: I've done a lot of track days with my. Bounced it off a few curbs too. Took a hammer and pounded it flat again. Still have it. :tup:

ZSpeed undershroud is indeed one tough SOB.

One time, tall grass was hiding a steel fence poll that protrude from the ground. I drove over it, front bumper was spared but it was enough to bend the shield and damaged the wiper fluid reservoir.

I thought “no big deal, I’ll just bend that corner back…”. Boy, my hammer hand and both ears were ringing so bad after I kept heating and hammering it back to shape. The ZSpeed shield is a deceivingly hard piece.

I couldn't rely on the oem plastic to hold.

Metal replacement scared me that would rip the front end in an accident.

Took some compressed wood and covered it in flex seal and it's been 2 years, 1 hurricane and 3 floods and it's still holding.

My design is a flat board that ends by the oil pan. My first design which covered the bottom just like factory also increased my IATs a bit.

Second design ends by the oil pan and it's withstood 140mph. When it rips I dont have a worry of any damage it would create.

P.S. I looked at most shields and they have lowered area for to compensate for the sway bar however at stock height the bar is far from touching.

It's not an issue. The metal undertray will bend. If you hit something in the front, the bumper cover is done anyways. It's garbage.

I have the Zspeed undershroud and it is TOUGH. I was driving up a mountain road (ACH highway 2) and was near the top going FAST. I hit a Massive rock around a blind bend. I mean HUGE, scarped the bottom of the bumper (no real damage other wise) but bent the F out of the under shroud, popped a few rivets out and flattened it so there is no longer a gap in the back. Series damage to the shroud, popped it off and the car/oilpan/ subrame didn’t even have a scratch. I'd go Zspeed anytime.
