Working GTR gauges in the G37!!!
Today was the first in car test of the GTR MFD CAN translator. It is small device that plugs into the OBD port, and allows 27/28 of the GTR gauges to work on the G37.* The*one gauge that doesn't work is the "acceleration / braking g sensor", as the G37/370 doesn't have one. I'll look into this once everything else is done. I did a little extra work to make the (transmission) "Gear" screen/animation work. That's all for now! https://youtu.be/xOQb0zVmMBg (To bad the video won't show/play in the post... It used to work with the YOUTUBE tags) |
Quick question:
What was the first year the 370 had a USB port and what option did it require? [update] From what I saw in the FSMs, it looks like 2010 with Nav has the USB port. Is this accurate? |

BTW, how's ur phone screen mirroring thing going on? Really having interest in that one. |
Next Project: GT-R MFD on 370 (oil temp/pressure, boost, etc...)
In AUS my 2010 Z doesn’t have the USB slot, only the RCA

My AU 2012 does have the USB connection in the centre console. Been using it for various things for ages. |

Just to double check, you do have navigation, right? |

Mid March Update:
In the first version of the code, I was sending data to the gauges 2x per second which resulted in sluggish gauges. Now the gauges get data 10x per second and the gauges respond almost instantly! I've been adding some additional features. For example, if the throttle is 80% or more, the display will automatically switch to the gauges screen. I'm not sure if this is a useful feature or just irritating to always have to switch back. Road testing will give me an idea of how useful this is. Anyways, I hope to have an update video out by the end of the week and will show all. In the meantime, here is a picture from a road test yesterday: http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1678883774 |

And wow! -1 degrees?:eek: And I thought 40 degree weather in FL was cold. |
Quote:
Just like you are used to the Florida heat, people in Toronto (or Canada in general) are used to below freezing temps during winter. Also, just incase you missed it, the temp is -1C is about 30F, so not far off your 40F :) |

But Canada does have some COLD@$$ weather. |
He everyone, here is the latest update:

Very cool! Hopefully still can do color changes. Would definitely rather have a 370z and/or Nismo logo on my Z than a GTR. Nissan should have did this stock with the 2015 Nismo facelift.

Sept Update:
There has been a fair amount of progress on the GTR gauges. The hardware has been finalized and I now have 20 circuit boards back from manufacturing. Over the next week I'll be building a few kits and start to test locally. (Toronto) The hand wired prototype has worked perfectly in testing on my G37 and good progress has been made in getting kits made :) Want Live Tire Pressures on the Nav screen? If your 2010+ 370 has navigation and a USB port, this video will show you how to enable the "Tire Pressure" menu, using any USB A to A cable. (about $8 from Amazon) As far as I know, there isn't any way to get this to work on 2009 and older navigation units, or any 370z without navigation. The 370, G37, GTR and about 8 other models all use the same navigation system, known as the "08IT". To get different functionality from the same nav unit, the configuration is changed. This configuration controls if you have AUX IN, Tire Pressure menu, type of amp, and a bunch of other stuff. By modifying this configuration, I have enabled the Tire Pressure menu on my G37! I did this about 3 months ago to test it and see if any thing weird acts up. There hasn't been any problems and everything continues to work just like it did before. I suppose you are wondering if anyone has tried this on a 370? Well, MikeUCFL did yesterday, and it worked without any issues: http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...ml#post4045905 https://youtu.be/hVikE-EOncg?si=uTqm3MMGp_xOWzx2 |
I've wanted that tire pressure since I bought the car. Should be in the little gauge on the left, too but I'll take it on the Nav! Thanks!
Curious what's in "Maintenance Information" as well as "Off road information." Opening animation sounds like some possibilities, too! |

As for the "Off road information" I have enabled it, but nothing additional was displayed. Some features need to see specific hardware on the car's network. |

FYI:
It looks like this also works on the 370 with the Europe version navigation software: http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1696183378 |

• Nissan (like you have now) • Infiniti • GT-R There is a person who is (was?) working on a custom opening animation, but I don't know if he cracked the code. Between checksums, fixed memory locations, and an unusual image format, it would be very tricky to get it to work. |

GTR Gauges Fall 2024 Update:
The (world's!) first local beta test of the GTR gauges has started. This is in a 2011 G37X with Tech package (sonar based cruise control and other options). The reason I mentioned the Tech package, is that the CAN bus is much, much busier/active with the additional modules. This makes it a better/more difficult test to pass. I've been running/testing the GTR gauges in my G37 for just over 2 years and all has been good. No weird issues or dash lights. Below is a pic of the test bench. This is used to verify bug fixes or to validate any new features that are added. The 370 gauge cluster CAN bus messages are the same as the G37. On the test bench, I played back multiple 370 CAN logs and the gauges worked as expected. Nice! Test Bench: https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...ba8ad053c2.jpg Interior pic of the GTR gauges on the first beta tester: https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...cc7e0c958d.jpg NOTE: Changing units is a easy as pressing the settings button, and select US or metric. Once the GTR gauges have proven to work well on the G37, I'd like to start testing on the 370. One of the best features of the "GTR MFD Converter" module is the optional Bluetooth engine oil pressure! It connects to any aftermarket 150 PSI sensor that uses the standard 3 pin "Packard" connector. (I think that's all of them!) It provides +5v, ground and reads the sensor about 100 times per second. Then it sends the data to the "GTR MFD Converter" module using Bluetooth and displays it in the GTR gauges. The Bluetooth connection is automatic and faster then the time it takes for the nav unit to start up. It is so nice to have engine coolant temp, engine oil temp and engine oil pressure on the same screen. It give great peace of mind about those oil gallery gaskets. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1730733894 Note: The bottom right gauge that says "Trans Oil Pressure" has been repurposed to display diff oil temp. The hottest I've seen the diff oil is around 100C/212F during a long highway drive in the hot summer. I'm sure it gets much hotter on a road coarse. I'm starting to look for 370 beta testers for early next year. If you are located in the Mississauga, Brampton, Burlington, Milton area and have a 2010 - 2017 370 with navigation, please PM me. Thanks! |
this is awesome
now do the ABS fix |
Quote:
From what I saw, I should be able to get the speedometer and warning lights to work on a 370 with their ABS module. I've sent them an email and asking for a CAN log file from the ABS module. From that, I can develop and test a small CAN Gateway that does the translation, then test at the track! |
Awesome stuff!

DeltaABS (US office) got back to me. They don't have a CAN bus log and their race car is an hour away.
I've explained to them that I'm fine waiting days, weeks or even a few months for them to get a CAN log and send it to me. I also sent an email to the UK office. (scs-delta.co.uk) Once I have that log, I can verify (and demonstrate on video) a working speedometer and warnings lights on the gauge cluster. The module can be developed using their documentation (DBC file), so I don't need it, but sure would like it to verify it on my test bench where it is easy to update code for any bug fixes or feature updates. Future updates will be in this thread: http://www.the370z.com/track-autocro...ml#post4053329 |
Update video. They're Done!
Once there is more progress on the G37 beta testing, I'll be looking for local (Toronto) 370 folks to test/verify on the 2010 - 2017 370 with navigation. From the data I have, they should work with out any issues. :) https://youtu.be/3znFZHgNJtE |
Keep kicking *** and burning rubber! :driving:
