What harness?

I got zeta4 and MA harness bar, but what harness should I go for? 5pt or 6pt?

chendaxian888 04-25-2021 12:50 AM

stay the stock seat belt

Hotrodz 04-25-2021 09:56 AM

He can run both! I did for years. Five or six point really doesn't matter. I would say if dedicated track car then go with a six point.

I thought the proper mounting of the 5th or 5th+6th is much more important than the theoretical difference, and shouldn’t matter in a reasonably upright seating position (unlike the severely reclined seating in a formula car.

I kept my three point for daily use. I don't really recommend using 6 or 5 point for daily use. They are a pain in the but to get in and out of.

From what I have seen the auto will overheat and cause the car to go into limp mode. Guy at the Tail of the Dragon could get one good run in down and back. The 2nd down and back the car would go into limp mode due to the transmission overheating. If it happens to you just be aware it can happen.

There are a lot of really good brands out there. You can go with any of the common race brands like Sparco, OMP, Schroth and Sabelt. I have a Crow 6 point and Teamtech 5 point. Both are made in America if that is a thing for you. :tiphat:

danegrey 04-27-2021 09:12 AM

keep the 3 the normal seat belt for daily use, I have two 6 points, because the instructor for track days have to have the same setup. I prefer the 6 point on track days, daily as Hotrodz stated is too much work

Your car being faster than his car on the highway doesn’t mean it’s a good track car.....

Let you friend talk chit. There are several guys that I know that track autos. You just need the proper cooling mods and tuning. Don't get all wrapped up in that my car is faster than your car game. Depending on the track, I run faster times in Miata now than I did at 515whp in my Z before I blew the motor. Power means little if can't drive so spend your money on basic mods and then put more into driver mods and learn to drive. Then you can smack talk!!! And guess what there is always someone faster in a slower car LMAO!

It's more fun to go fast in a slow car, than to go slow in a fast car. :driving:

You can absolutely keep the 3 point after you change seats. Don't know what bootleg Guangzhou seats you bought, but Sparco seat brackets come with a mount for the OEM 3 point seat belt clicker.

I used to run a 6 point TeamTech pilot harness, loved it. Kept me very upright and secure. Using it as a DD was, yes, a pain in the tuchus.

:iagree: Just unbolt it from the OEM seat and attach it to the seat bracket. Worked great with my Sparco seat.

Then punch an approved eye bolt through JAR's favorite aspect of the Z, the tranny hump, and you can clip your 5 or 6 point in right there. Yank the OEM fastener for the door-side OEM belt and replace with another eye bolt and you're almost golden. Mounting the soprano-maker belts is another story.

Haha, you don't get it. I watch one the Top Gear guys smoke a Porsche gt3 in a ND Mazda Miata on a mountain road. Most of the fastest cars that run the Tail of the Dragon have less than 200whp.

i take los flores canyon home almost everyday, and ive been doing it for 10 years. There is one older civic si and one vw jetta gli that i could not catch if my life depended on it. i see them each a few times a month. on the other hand there is a cayman gt4 i see as well and he could not catch me if his life depended on it. hp has nothing to do with how well you can drive

also, if you want both for street and track / schroth makes a 4 point that has a quick release and also an anti-submarining feature

OptionZero 04-28-2021 03:19 PM

Back in the day i was passing WRX’s in my NA/KA powered s14

Good times

I run the Schroth ASM 4 point in my car (track 7AT btw, yeah get a 25 row transmission cooler).
I'm happy with it and it's easy to get in and out of.
The most annoying part now is that I'm restricted in HANS options, and essentially need to get the hybrid, because from what I've read, normal HANS devices dont work with ASM, plus the 3 inch belt width makes fitment tougher even if I tried.
For a car that is often street driven, the 4 point is nice. Now that my car is just for track events, I am considering moving to a 6 point.

chendaxian888 04-29-2021 12:27 PM

I decide to use sparoco 6 PT HANS - 3"/2" ALUMINUM for track and leave my 3pt for daily, lol IDK how ill that work on zeta4, I have nevre seen some review for it

what trans cooler you are using?

OptionZero 04-30-2021 11:01 AM

have you ever been to a race track?

you should go, even if you're not driving. just talk to people and watch and learn

It was an old GTM 19 row kit that I then transferred my 25 row to from my oil cooler when I upped that to 34 rows.
