Broke my B-Pillar cover, looking for good replacements
So I sheared the mounting pin off the driver side B-Pillar cover while getting out of the car holding some drinks. I should have gotten out first, then grabbed the drinks, but hindsight is 20/20.
Anyway, I see all these b-pillar cover replacements but they don't look like they are actual replacements but just covers that attach to the OEM ones. Am I understanding this correctly? I want something carbon fiber that will fit like or better than OEM and it has to be usable as if I didn't have the originals. Any recommendations? |

Yes, looks like they have seibon carbon fiber ones as well as Nissan Nismo ones.....
|
U should be able to find one off a junked car from your local scrapyard for cheap

I want an OEM replacement in carbon fiber. Also, the product page for the Seibon carbon fiber pillars do not say whether they are adhesive or OEM replacement. |
I broke mine as well. I'm not sure if you have access to a 3d printer, but someone has uploaded stl files to print these pieces. I plan on going this route

Not aware of anyone that makes carbon replacement B-pillar covers.
If they did, would be at a very high $. Suggest you find a replacement B-pillar at a salvage yard or on Ebay. If you want carbon, try ZCF carbon overlays. Great quality high definition carbon. Last I saw, priced at 95 bucks for a set on Ebay. |

Not out of the world pricing. g2carbon |
I put G2 Carbon on my car. They are direct fitment because they made their mold based off of OEM. I was happy with the product. Link below of my IG showing the install:

I need a pair of these, one of mine cracked when the windshield guys were repairing my windshield. They were brittle with age, so I don't feel it's appropriate to force them to pay for a new set, I don't think anyone would have been able to get it off without it breaking.
Is G2 the only real option for true replacement panels? $400 is pretty steep to me, especially since I need to do some other things, too, like new brakes and rotors, etc. |
*Edit* G2 B pillars showed up a few months after order.

G2 is a scam!

Serious? Damn... I was looking at those orange kevlar ones :(

Ahhhhh cripes. So where do I get replacements for these broken panels? Rockauto doesn't have them...

seibon carbon are replacements. Link shows the reverse with mounting tabs
https://www.z1motorsports.com/door-s...rs-p-4210.html someone on here 3d printed a replacement mounting tab and post which can be epoxied to your b-pillar to repair it. that thread is here http://www.the370z.com/exterior-inte...ted-parts.html |

Or spend ~$400 for a more durable carbon fiber pair. Hmmm... Decisions, decisions. Thanks for the help. |

Basically because i was impatient and didn't look hard enough. What you should be doing is putting a long handle slotted pry tool all the way under the b pillar and popping out the retaining pins (iirc they are white plastic) You're not actually supposed to apply any stress on the b pillar finisher when removing it. Assuming after breaking a single b pillar we both learn our lesson. There shouldn't be any issue with removing the oem b pillar in the future. You might grease the white pins for even easier removal when you reinstall them. TLDR: the oem b pillar doesnt' need to be sturdy if you remove it properly. |
Yeah I didn't break either, but point taken. One broke on its own, the other was broken by a windshield repair guy.
|
Just thinking, if the broken OEM B-pillar finisher can be "fixed", I mean... pieces removed,
glued back together and surface sanded flat, I'd think using an adhesive such as SealAll to attach back to the car is possible. Forget about the clips etc. Then ,use a carbon overlay to finish the surface. As mentioned, ZCF sells great ones on Ebay for $95 a set. I have them. Put e'm on 3 years ago. Look like new. Of course, I cannot see the car's B-pillar damage. But, if they can be repaired, sure is the cheapest way to go and gives the car a update look too. |
G2 B pillar finishers showed up after a couple months.

G2 Carbon got back to my inquiry in a couple of days and told me this:
"$350 plus shipping and about 2-4 weeks" I'm thinking this is my best bet, unless I want to go with crappy stock ones that will probably break again - I'm planning on keeping this car for many more years. |
Best solution when reinstalling B pillars is to use 3M double side tape. First i broke the clips, then tried to glue some similar clip to it. Succeeded and then the clips wasn't fitting perfectly, (I should of left it at that but instead) I tried forcing it and broke the damn b pillar. At the end of the day I used 3M tape and it's holding fine. Before that i used regular tape and held like a champ when i did 210kph. So I'm sure this will work.
