FRP? is it realy that strong?

I was looking at body kits and most of them are offered in FRP?

is this stuff really that strong? i've seen cars with body kits on them with huge white cracks that have resulted from minor impacts.

i love the Amuse kit but $1500 for a FRP bumper!??? is it worth it, will it last with the quality of a OEM?

thanks

depends on the shape of the lip, how it is reinforced, how thick the product is, how it is mounted.

and how bad you drive. :D

shabarivas 01-22-2010 01:28 PM

umm... OEM > all lol.. but if you get the amuse... I would hope you NEVER scrape it lol

anyone here have a FRP bumper that can chime in on their experience.

shabarivas 01-22-2010 04:52 PM

I have seen many of my friends spend ALL their turbo funds making sure they had a clean looking non busted up bumper for their shows... in all seriousness if you never scrape - you will be good

its more on the FB side of the spectrum vs. poly. my lip on my speed is frp. wish it was poly. lol. and poly takes a scraping better.

The front end of my corvette is FRP and I scrape the bottom of it quite often. The only damage is some scrapes in the paint. I would say if you are going with an authentic kit, it should be fine, but copy cats, I wouldn't trust. (not to mention you spend more on body work trying to make them fit correctly than if you had bought the real parts to begin with)
