Nismo shaved front Nissan Emblem

So I shaved the front Nissan Emblem off the nose of my Nismo. Sorry for the bad pics, but I jsut got back home and it was late. I'll try to have some better ones tomorrow. The car isn't even clean from being buffed, so only the bumper is shiny lol.

More details, removal of the emblem is I assume, but what did you use to fill. Anyway to notice it up close or no?

roplusbee 01-21-2010 09:43 PM

Nice. I am definitely interested in how you did it. I plan on debadging as much as I can once I pick mine up. I'm jealous............

feelzpwr91 01-21-2010 09:49 PM

looks clean man

NewYorkJon34 01-21-2010 11:11 PM

You def gotta tell us how you did it, I'm sure many of us are interested

Minicobra1 01-22-2010 12:28 AM

Was there holes left over?

motoextreme 01-22-2010 12:55 AM

Nice job! Mine needs to be touched up and resprayed, interested to see how you did it.

simota1 01-22-2010 07:00 AM

nioce dood!!! i wanna shave my front emblem..... i got a dent on my front bumper so it gives me a reason to shave it lol...

Equinox 01-22-2010 07:01 AM

the emblem is recessed, so when you remove it there are two holes, and a big dish recess. So I used urethane flexible filler to smooth in the hole, then did final smoothign with a little bondo and filler primer. Had to repaint the whole bumper when I was done. Kinda looks more like a catfish nurse shark of a car, it's hilarious.

simota1 01-22-2010 07:06 AM

^^^ nice dood!!! man i cant wait till i shave my emblems.... i think its such a small mod that takes a lot of work but makes a HUGE difference in overall appearance... the hamburger is really big lol :icon17:

Here are some day pics with it shaved, and of it before shave

theDreamer 01-23-2010 12:39 PM

Hmmm, I still like it, but it just seems so "open" in terms of a front. Nothing wrong with that, and I still am not a huge fan of the Nissan hamburger but I might not do this after seeing full size pictures now.

Equinox 01-23-2010 12:45 PM

That's why I share :)

m4a1mustang 01-23-2010 12:46 PM

I think it looks great.

mick 01-23-2010 12:53 PM

do you leave the nissan emblem in the back or do you plan to remove it too?

dalparadise 01-23-2010 12:54 PM

You've done nice work, but I think I prefer the hamburger on. I'm wondering what a smoked chrome hamburger might look like on PG.

Hopefully it won't crack and look like crap down the road. My High end Body shop was unwilling to do this for me when I had my front and rear bumpers replaced. Good luck, and report back in a year!....

And I am glad you did. :)
Though the one thing is, the Nismo front is longer than the coupe nose so it might be different.

Togo 01-23-2010 02:02 PM

I love the look without the Nissan Burger! Great job and thanks for posting it

vipor 01-23-2010 02:24 PM

love it. i'll add it to the list for down the line when i respray the gravel catcher that most call a front bumper.

G Fo12ce 01-23-2010 03:10 PM

Looks good!

Hey I may be taking my front bumper off soon. I noticed there are some rivets in the fender/wheel arch on the bumper cover, are those holding on to the fender liner!? Do the liners have to come off with the NISMO bumper on removal?

I think you need to remove the rivets to pull the cover back to get to the screws that hold the bumper, if I remember correctly....

vipor 01-23-2010 03:16 PM

rivets? not sure what you're talking about?

the nismo bumper removes exactly the same way as the factory bumper. the splash guard has some extra snaps because it's bigger, but it doesn't need to be removed for the bumper to come off.

Equinox 01-24-2010 09:04 AM

plastic rivets yes

Vipor, look in front of your front tire at the painted part of your bumper that wraps around into the wheel arch. There are (I think) 3 black rivets there.

So just to confirm (and sorry to get OT) you don't have to drill them out to detach a fender liner to get the bumper cover off right?

Nope, to take the front bumper off you just had to get those pop pins out, a few dozen screws.

j.arnaldo 01-24-2010 12:01 PM

Maybe the "hamburger", but not the Nismo emblem, dude!

vipor 01-24-2010 12:47 PM

in the fender well you have to remove 1 clip, then pull back the black plastic. behind that there's a single 10mm bolt attaching the bumper to the fender. no rivets

Equinox 01-24-2010 09:36 PM

http://www.the370z.com/members/equin...-rain-drop.jpg

here's the back of the car, so far I've only gotten rid of the 370z emblem.

roplusbee 01-24-2010 09:55 PM

I am looking to shave all of the lettering and contemplated shaving the NISSAN logos also. The front looks good, but I am not sure whether I like the front without it. It looks nice, but like something is missing. Dilemmas................

motoextreme 01-24-2010 11:45 PM

Its not just looks its also performance.

That .5 of ounce on the nose translates to 20 more HP

Nah I'll be in South Korea in May, thanks though.

MJB 11-05-2011 10:06 AM

Bringing a thread back from the dead! I'm also up in the air about doing this to my front. Dealership drilled holes into the bumper for the plate, so I'm going to get that fixed and resprayed. Just not sure if I want to leave the emblem on or off. My old 350z had a Nismo V2 bumper with shaved emblem, looked really sweet. Judging from OP's pics, I can't tell if I like it better with or without the hamburger. Oh what a dilemma!

Equinox 11-05-2011 04:20 PM

without just makes the Nismo kit look like an aftermarket mod on your car. So it's somewhat like whether or not you want to look custom modded or OEM performance is what it ends up being.
