Where did you mount your fire extinguisher?

Of course this only applies if you even put one

I'm thinking of putting mine right behind the crossbar behind the passenger seat. Seems like an easy enough place to reach and shouldn't fly into my face in case the unthinkable happens

Use a bracket, bolt* it down, then put the extinguisher in it. Never leave any hard objects unsecured (that's what cargo rings and nets are for).

*Doesn't have to be bolted - just make sure it is well secured.

Mine came with a quick release bracket which feels very secure for how easy it is to release.

I mostly made this thread because I see people mounting their fire extinguisher on the A pillar which just seems insane to me.

:iagree:

Because a quick search of this forum would have netted you zero examples of people who think installing the fire extinguisher on the a-pillar is a good idea.

1. I searched
2. Old threads are old and people's opinions change over time
3. I see a lot people with this abomination in their rice builds driving down the street.

Also, do not mount it to the rear tower bar. Mine was mounted to the backside of mine and when I had my accident, the force unlatched it from the bracket and it flew up into the passenger footwell.

See that's scary, I don't want a projectile in my car

That's why mine's mounted under the front area of the passenger seat

Would it be possible to get a photo of yours please? That sounds like a good idea but I'd like to see how you did yours.

1. I like using a regular search engine with "site:the370z.com" in the search string to narrow searches down to this forum (the forum search is abysmal).

2. lol no one has changed their opinion from the a-pillar being a bad place to mount a fire extinguisher to it being a good place. My comment was really aimed to insult your terrible search effort that led you to the conclusion that most people think it's a good idea to mount an a fire extinguisher to the a-pillar. Because that was clearly not the case when I spent 90 seconds searching.

3. I see dumbass shìt on a daily basis. Doesn't mean that I give any credence to it...

Redondo has the right idea. All the good installs I've seen or read about had the fire extinguisher somewhere in the passenger footwell for safety and easy access.

Here you go. Bolts to the 2 front passenger seat mounting holes. Made by Kap Industries

The BracketeerThe Bracketeer Is what I use.

Mount where it is within reach. Mine is right in front of the driver seat below me. BTW These tiny bottles can only put out the smallest of fires and are really just meant to get you extra time to get out of the car until someone with a bigger bottle(s) to get to you at a race track.

I never said others here think that A pillar mounting is a good idea or that their opinion on that would change, I said I see it in the wild and its insane.

I just wanted to know where others mounted theirs with safety and ease of access in mind. I would never put mine on the A pillar

abm89 10-28-2020 04:23 PM

LOL i got a Jeep roll-bar mount with velcro. stays in place and doesn't move behind the passenger seat.

cooltoy 10-28-2020 06:32 PM

I mounted mine in the garage.
