Coolerworx shifter trash?
 

I really want to get the CoolerWorx shifter for my 370, but I heard it rattles, vibrates, and feels awful on the street. I don't daily my car but I don't want annoying rattles and vibrations when driving. anyone know if this is true?

Some of the guys said they have had that problem.

yea I am superrrrr hesitant to buy it because I don't want my car to be a rattly vibrating POS.

Welllll... would you put solid engine/transmission mounts and bushings (aka race car sh*t) on your vehicle and expect it to be silent? If so, then it probably isn't for you. If not, and you want the best shifter available for the Z, then you won't be disappointed.

The reverse lockout cable vibrates worse than one of Redondo's sextoys. It's seriously bad. Would not recommend.

I've heard lube or touching it in the right spot helps but I'll let BettyZ and redondoaveb confirm...

Replacing the cable I suppose. Coolerworx emailed me back after my second email, saying they'd get back to me. Nothing back yet.

Mine was fine for along time, then I opened my mouth and said mine doesnt rattle. Went on a road trip and it started rattling like a mofo and LOUD! It has since stopped again so I have hope that it can be fixed.

Managed to (I think) fix the rattle. I got a can of lithium grease and sprayed some into the tiny hole @ the top of the cable. Took the car up to 5k rpm in 3rd and 4th and had no rattling.

There is a bicycle cable that is Gore tex lined. Wonder if that would stop the rattle. Think I have some, someplace in my garage. Have to look after I get back from vacation.

The problem is, if I remember right, the coolerworx cable doesn't have removable cable ends on it and one end looks proprietary to coolerworx. You would somehow have to make your own cable end.

I would have changed mine out a long time ago :rofl2: When I get my car back I'll have to look at it a little closer and see what's up.

even with all the noise its still night and day from the stock shifter.....mine makes noise like crazy but id take that over stock anyday

Made a improvement at the track over stock worth the noise. When I had the Coolerworx shifter the noise was not as bad as people describe it definitely livable. Regarding their cable I believe someone here has the ancient Chinese secret.

I sprayed lithium grease into the cable and the rattle ceased thank you baby yeezus.
