OEM Backup Camera?
Is there a place to mount an OEM camera on a 2010 Roadster?
|
Yup. Right above the license plate.

Where would it go? |

Probably not on a roadster. The bumper is way different then on the coupe. :icon23: |
Ok, so I have to buy that whole part or can I just get the camera? It's hard to see how the camera itself is mounted.

You can always just get an aftermarket one that clips into the hole for the license plate light. They have ones that even allow you to keep the light. |

It does look like you screw it in. The mounted photo - it looks like there is a screw. And the close up of the camera mount you can see the mounting holes.

Thanks, I just took a good look under there and was hoping to see some capped off pre-drilled holes for the OEM camera mount and wire, but there are none. I've seen those cameras with the plate light included. Seems like an easy way to go, I just don't know about the picture quality of them. It will be wired to my nav system.

If it's wired to the OEM nav system, then it doesn't really matter what the camera quality is. The nav screen is like 480i or some garbage so pretty much any camera you can find will be higher quality than it can display.

If you're thinking the OEM product will be better, think again. The technology in the Z is from 2009. So pretty much all aftermarket tech is far superior now that it's 11 years later.

It is, of course identical. |

I see what you did there :icon23: |
