Limited options for custom tail/headlights.. Why?

Hey all, I’ve been trying to look into some custom options for the head and tail lights for my Z and it feels like I just keep hitting dead ends. It seems like there are more options out there for 350s than 370s. Any ideas why? Am wondering if the platform is too complicated to bother with or maybe Im just looking in the wrong places? Any answers are welcome, thank you!

Interesting timing since the Morimoto triple LED headlights came out maybe a month ago

Distributed by 78works in Japan, sold by morimoto and other retailers in USA

78works also has taillights coming

It's expensive. The Z market is already small and the number of owners who wants headlights mod even smaller. Custom taillights are only just now coming to market.

That being said you have several options as listed by OptionZero. I don't know if 180 is still around but they had all sorts of custom options for headlights.

Hit up Leo at Yuniqueled. He's one of the best, if not the the best out there. He can do both headlights and tail lights.

I vouch and he won't use a product that he doesn't think will last.

He was doing Audi type strips and when I was purchasing my light mods in late 2018. He noted they're seeing too many failures (of the product available then) in the field and would no longer install them.

He does his best to test everything he offers as modification options but obviously with the company being only a handful of people there's only so much time they can spend with each part.

A full 1 year warranty is included which also covers the resealing.

My car was one of the last one's that had the audi style led's. I had problems with them (a couple leds burnt out). He replaced them and they failed again. Manufacturer defect. He gave me a great discount on another custom set that he and I designed. As a matter of fact, he's doing another set for me right now. Here's a video of the Audi led's when they were working perfect.

Check out Oneighty in NY. Sent them my headlights to get rid of the ugly silver and to black out my headlights while painting the two light housings to match the color of my car. Just got paintwork, but they do every LED mod possible with the stock headlights. Top quality work.

Yep, definitely stands by his his work. I saw a FB post last week where it looks like he found another alternative for the Audi style strips.

I will. I just sent him a text but I'm sure he's spending the holiday with the family so I don't expect to hear from him tonight.

I talked to Leo. He said he tried an alternative but it didn't work out so as of right now he's not doing the Audi strips.

Are these the ones that Z1 sells? Mine are starting to get a little crappy looking.

OptionZero 05-26-2020 03:39 PM

Yes.

Morimoto makes them. Several US places sell them, but they all come from the same source. 78works just slaps their label and sells them in Japan

The taillights appear to be a 78works product
