A trunk monkey would be awesome... would be a little worried about carrying one in a hatchback though :rofl2:

My left button is wired to a garage door opener which is tucked away inside the center console. The middle button operates my footwell lighting. The right button is a dummy until I think of something.
I originally just planned on hooking my footwell lighting up to the Z kick plates on each door. That works fine. But then I wanted to put in a switch to control them just like my dome light (On-Off-Door). The problem is that the Z kick plates are controlled by the ground wire of the kick plates. The power wire always has 12V on it from the battery. My first thought was to put my switch on the ground side, but then it would be possible to accidentally leave the footwell lighting on even when the key is removed. Long story short, I used the circuit shown in the attached pic, which switches between two circuits: Forward (ON): Accessory 12V power and Chassis ground Middle (OFF): Both circuits open so no footwell lights at all Back (DOOR): Z Kick plate 12V power and Z kick plate ground I normally leave it so it turns on with the dome light, but sometimes I put it on while I drive in rice mode.:happydance: |
brad- i wired up my rear fog lamp to one of the 3. if you dont have one already, might be a quick way to populate that one blank. :D
i also used one for my e-brake bypass for my stereo. |
A question regarding wiring one of these:
OTRATTW :: Switch w/Rocker :: Contura V :: Novelty :: Amber LED :: Lower Independent (Text Area) :: Amber/Amber :: CONTURA V, PASSENGER EJECT, LOWER LED INDEPENDENT The switch is configured so that the text is illuminated when the headlights are on, and when switched to the ON position it will also illuminate the seat icon. Would the proper way to connect it be to tap into the wire that also provides power to illuminate the heated seat switches in my Touring/Sport Model when the headlights are on and ground it somewhere with another wire ? I'm not quite understanding the wiring diagram on the website. It's probably not necessary to have the icon light up since it's not a truly functional switch (although it sure would be fun) but I would like the switch to illuminate when the headlights are on. Thanks |
Dwight, I would connect it like this:
Pin 2: Accessory Power Pin 8: Ground (at nearest bolt on the frame) Pin 6: Power from the nearby switch light Pin 7: Jumper to pin 8 Pins 2 & 8 will light up the person on the seat when the button is pressed because it will connect pin 2 to pin 3 when pushed. This is connected to accessory power so it will light up anytime you press it (if your key is in ACC or ON). Alternatively, you could connect this to pin 6. Then it will only light up if the your headlights are on when you press it. Pin 6 & 8 will light up the text whenever your other switches are lit up. If you decided to use this for something. Power will go out pin 3 whenever the button is pushed. |
Thanks Brad370. I will order and install the switch.

Passenger Eject Switch - Won't Work
Well guys, forget these switches:
OTRATTW :: Switch w/Rocker :: Contura V :: Novelty :: Amber LED :: Lower Independent (Text Area) :: Amber/Amber :: CONTURA V, PASSENGER EJECT, LOWER LED INDEPENDENT The fore and aft measurements of the rocker are too long to fit in the recessed part of the console where the other switches are. It does fit the hole where the blank switch was, but will not drop down far enough to click into place and allow the switch to rock on and off. It's going back for a refund tomorrow. |
i like the make another "pocket/storage area" idea...may just do that :D

1 Attachment(s)
I installed garage door openers left and right and the rear fog lamp switch in the middle. The outside switches are momentary rockers and all have custom labels made of white vinyl. We have a cutter here at home for various projects and it came in handy. Attachment 95248

I have a Pioneer touchscreen that has usb out of the back. For a quick fix I ran a usb cable from it to the glove box but want to run it to one of those unused switch plates. I think it needs a rubber cover for the usb so it wouldn't get dirt or liquid in it. Anyone know of a usb cable that has one?
