paigeone,

Several ideas:

With a separate 12 volt power source check the seat motor to make sure its working, as the switch may not be the issue. Then check that you have power to the seat switch. Check for a separate seat fuse, if one exists?

Take the switch assembly off the seat, and spray electrical contact cleaner into every crevice you can find on the switch and then cycle the switch many times to try and clean its contacts. Do it several times, and then allow 20 minutes for the fluid to evaporate before you hook it back up and try the switch.

If you can see how the switch comes apart (I've done this many times with the switch and my hands inside a large zip lock bag, so parts don't fly away in the garage, and tiny knife blades or screw drivers) take it apart and clean the contacts with emery paper.

Lastly, try eBay. I've had great luck over the years finding used items for a fraction of the cost of new. Good Luck!

:iagree: I've fixed many switches (and potentiometers) with a liberal application of contact cleaner.

Make sure the switch is dried out before applying power; the contact cleaner gets cold as it evaporates and will cause condensation. A hair dryer on low heat will speed up the process.

I have a New to me 2010 Roadster Sport with a non working passenger seat control switch. Will try cleaning it as suggested here. Is it possible to remove the switch without taking out the seat to try to clean it?
