Another Trackspec Motorsports hood vent install

So I used to have a vented carbon fiber hood, then sold it to make moving to another state easier. Bought another carbon hood but didn't like the way it fit, so I decided to go the Trackspec Motorsports vent route and am totally happy.

Install took several hours working at a slow and meticulous pace ensuring the cuts were placed right. I had a friend of mine help me out (aka I drank beer and helped hold things lol). The kit came well packaged and the vents felt like quality pieces. The included hardware and cut templates worked awesome too.

The short rivets are aluminum. The long rivets are steel. Expect some rust on the steel rivets if you used them.

Nice job, looks really good

I had a mix of long and short rivets. All of them were black. The short ones was aluminum, and the long ones was steel. The same for Leingod when I installed his.

Which two CF hoods did you have prior to this very well-done install?

Thanks for the quick reply. I had a Seibon TS hood delivered two-three weeks ago, and it looked great, until we unwrapped the part where it had been hit by a forklift in transit.

If they didn't hit every item in the warehouse with a forklift. They're slipping. :shakes head: The stuff I've seen in the last 2 years.

Man I love the look of these. Can they be placed lower (more to the front of the car) then where you have them?

I believe so. Maybe about 1.5".

Tractionless 06-18-2020 05:00 PM

Nice Look.

Any other CF intake mani. covers besides Seibon at $442?

cooltoy 06-18-2020 05:13 PM

Top Secret, EVO-R, NRG, Seibon.

Hi, thinking of doing the same thing because it's impossible to get a carbon fiber hood right now (VIS and Seibon). I placed an order about two months ago for one. I just got an email saying it was back ordered and that it wouldn't be available until late March or April.

Anyways, is it still holding up well and are you still happy with it? Thank you.

Multiple guys run them here. I've had mine installed for a little over 3 years now. They're still brand new looking other than the rivets showing a little cosmetic rusting which was easily fixed with some black paint.

The vents work way better than a carbon fiber hood that is vented.

babyzilla 01-27-2022 10:11 PM

Thanks for the feedback! I think I'll pull the trigger. I looked for other vents, but other than generic ones, trackspec is the only that actually makes one specifically for the 370z. Is that correct?

Leingod 01-28-2022 09:31 AM

Correct. And just get the tracspec. They're quality pieces. You won't be disappointed.

DarkJak 01-28-2022 03:06 PM

Racelouvers does as well. They are less aesthetic but very functional designs with different sizes to max out class limits for certain series.

Reviving an old thread.

Picked up these hood vents. Install looks straight forward. Ive never used a rivet gun before. Any pointers for a noob like me? Measure twice and cut once. Did people just cut into the templates they gave?

thank you.

cooltoy 06-10-2024 05:46 PM

This might be useful to you.

thank you.

Lay out the templates and tape down. Use a Sharpie to trace the pattern. Remove the patterns and mask off the hood. Then happy cutting. In a couple of areas. You will be cutting through the hood frame too.

Makes me a bit nervous to cut into the hood but I will give it a go and take my time.
