11' Nismo is this bumper original

Hello fellas and ladies. Just got this Nismo and have been enjoying the hell out of it, but i had a person point out that the body kit could be not from the factory/dealer, but instead re-installed after being taken off or the car was possibly in an unreported accident and a new kit installed (mentioned some paint looked off but couldn't really get a good view on it).

Just wanted to ask for some opinions from people that know the fit and finish on the Nismo body kit. Here are some pictures (i had to resize due to size limitations). What do you think ?

Lets see the rest of the car from all angles?

Could have had aftermarket intakes that put the filters behind the bumper cover and the bumper has been removed a couple times.

This. I've pulled my bumper off a couple dozen times and it does start to get a little gappy. Might help to make sure the screws holding the edge of each side of the bumper are tight.

Easy way to tell if it's the original bumper is see if there is a sticker with the VIN on the bumper. There's a sticker with the VIN on original bumpers while there's a different sticker on replacement bumpers indicating its a replacement.

Zbrah 07-21-2019 01:48 PM

^another indication is the Vin has been painted over as most body shops are too lazy to tape over the Vin plate before they spray the bumper. Broken bumper tabs are another sign to check.

saintluk2 07-22-2019 12:36 AM

I'll get better pictures and try to find that VIN. :driving:

The reason I asked, is I am wondering if it is an original Nismo, or a conversion.

The front bumper paint looks slightly mismatched, but if you look at the closeup pictures it looks matched...

it's an original Nismo.

cooltoy 07-22-2019 12:02 PM

i see that now. Definite possibilty of an accident. Espesially that rusted area makes me tink that the bumper was pushed over the metal at some point. Possuibly the bumper mountng points have been missaligned from the hit. You can always gave it resprayed and refitted.

This is all speculation. No one can tell you from just pictures.

Mick_12Nismo 07-22-2019 12:56 PM

There should be a small plate mounted between the seats that indicates it's a Nismo and has your car's production number for that model year on it. While the presence or absence of the plate isn't definitive, it is an additional clue.

Rusty 07-22-2019 03:19 PM

My 2011 Nismo looks like yours.

Plastic and metal panels won't match perfectly even from factory. Look at the gas gap, also a little mismatched. Yay Nissan!

Yes it's 11' 0380. There's no doubt it's a factory Nismo.

I appreciate your advice, and heed it to the uninitiated.

saintluk2 07-22-2019 09:17 PM

The title of this thread is misleading, sorry guys/gals. Should be somethign like "11' Nismo is this bumper original".

cooltoy 07-22-2019 10:13 PM

i think the only way to tell if the bumper is at least OEM is to take it off, I believe OEM has a sticker inside that says Nissan.

There is a vin number sticker too.

Here's a picture so you can see where the sticker with the VIN number should be. Should be easy to spot assuming you have the OE bumper.

cooltoy 07-23-2019 09:53 PM

Where? In the bottom right hand corner?

CRiZO 07-23-2019 10:20 PM

Yeah. It's on my 2015 sport too. The rear bumper has it inside just behind the plate I believe.

Nismo is covered in VINs. When I first bought the car, popped the hood, and saw the bumper VIN, my first thought was "Oh God, how expensive is this bumper that it has a VIN plate on it?"

nis350 07-24-2019 01:00 AM

:iagree:

especially with the 3 stage paint like the PW.

:ugh: the front. The rear hatch has the black VIN. Where is the sticker on the rear bumper ? is it easy to remove the trunk trim to access it if it's under there ?

JARblue 07-24-2019 01:04 PM

It could be original and repaired/repainted and whoever did the work just didn't replace the vin sticker. Or it could be a replacement. I'm guessing replacement. Cause the sticker outline is still present.

gomer_110 07-24-2019 06:00 PM

From the picture, there's definitely been work done. Can't tell with the lighting but it looks like there is a sticker there but it was painted over. Also the plastic "rivets" along the top edge of the bumper are NOT the factory style.

cooltoy 07-24-2019 06:37 PM

It looks like that sticker is a different shape then OEM.

Yep, the two on the ends appear to be factory but all the other one's aren't.

saintluk2 07-24-2019 09:48 PM

Well that answers my question. Not original paint on bumper.

cooltoy 07-24-2019 09:56 PM

And they certainly took it to a cheap body shop to fix it. What a crap job.

cooltoy 07-24-2019 09:57 PM

I thought your question was if the bumper was OEM. That's still debatable.

saintluk2 07-24-2019 11:03 PM

No just wanted to know if the paint was mismatched. I tried to change the title in advanced, but it doesn't change it outside the post. Thanks for the help boys and girls !
