2013 Hoods

Unfortunately my Nismo got pummeled with hail over the weekend :( I am looking at new aftermarket hoods and I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good quality hood. Not really set on a style at this point, but thinking about something with some venting for cooling.

My insurance covered hail damage on my Civic a few years ago. If I were you, I'd run It by your insurance provider. They may cover it, or at least give you some cash towards a different hood.

Just my $0.02

The insurance company is going to 'cover' things, but I am sure I am going to get McScrewed on it. They dont care about estimates, they are just going to look at it and then write a check. What you do with it is up to you. They dont want to deal with estimates, shops, and everything else.

I figure if I have to get a new hood, I might as well get something I am wanting.

Roof and hatch are toast also :( Fenders have some hope as they only got a small dent or two. Fixing the roof is going to cost a small fortune to repair I am guessing. Amazingly the rear spoiler made it through without a single dent/ding!

I know another member on here got hammered 2 months ago and insurance totaled his car.

As for hoods: I have a Seibon TS vented CF hood allegedly arriving any day now. I'd check that one out.

I am afraid they are going to total it. If they do, I think it will be like being raped with a broom handle without lube.

Splintered broom handle*. And hey you can always buy it off them depending on how much aftermarket you have in it

Get Quotes from a Nissan Dealer and submit it. The odds are is will be more than any aftermarket.

i'm not aware of any changes across production years to the hood, so they should all be the same

The cheapest route would be a used hood found locally with another owner or junkyard that is the same color

Aftermarket is hit or miss unless you get to the four figure range. And it depends on whether your insurance company is gonna cover that for you

You may want to also consider getting a protective film such as Xpel. it won't stop a dent but it will step chips

Get a factory hood and install Tracspec vents. Problem solved.

Is hail of this magnitude usual for Colorado?
