Might be a dumb suggestion as whatever you need may not be interchangeable like that not sure! but 4k sounds a bit excessive.

Yeah when they hit me with that quote my heart sank... I was like NOO WAYYYYY. But I could look at a junk yard, but that would 9 times outta 10 mean their air bags went off and would need to replace those parts as well or "RESET" the module again... Good idea, not sure If I see to many 370Z'S in the Junkyard.

I will do some eBay searches.

I love this forum man.

I had the dealer quote me over $6K worth of repairs for airbag and module replacement - it was essentially the entire system. This was at 80K miles on a 2011 model about two years ago.

I spoke with Nissan corporate and explained that my non-Nissan warranty would not cover the repairs and that I had great concerns about driving the car if the airbag system could just fail like that. They covered the entire cost of the repair. I was surprised considering I try my best to avoid using the dealer for service.

I would call Nissan North America and express your concerns over the car's safety. Even though the car is older, at 53K miles there is no reason for the system to fail. Your hurdle is how much you have revealed to the dealer. If they know the problem is likely caused by you leaving your windows down in the rain, they may have no interest in helping you. If you haven't told them, don't. And you might want to delete this thread, too...

Im all about integrity and good vibes, so I would not want to lie or have any bad juju follow me. Great idea however lol...

I might just have to ride around with no airbags, FUGGIT.

Worst case I just reset my airbag each time it rains. I am not finding any install or repair videos online and I don't feel comfortable taking my seats and center console apart (knowing my luck clips will break and pieces wont go back on as originally placed).

The manual tells me where all the SRS stuff is, but not how to take things a part to get to them... UGHHH

Wish I had a easier fix for this.

Sometimes you have to do a little digging. If you need to take an assembly apart (eg, door panel, console, etc), look in the section for that assembly.

Many PDF readers will search all the PDFs in a folder. Put all the FSM PDFs in a folder and point your reader's search function at that folder.

Try this site, I have had good success buying used parts for several different cars throughout the years. Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market
