I'm curious to know why you and the OP have a desire to do this? The weight savings will be minimal at best, and the amount of work and money needed to make it look nice will be pretty high. Just my $0.02 |
So, no.
|
I'm done here.
|
Thanks for all your help.

How do the doors open with this?

If you can work with fiberglass (or putty/carbon/etc.) it looks like it would be fairly easy to duplicate: remove the handle, glass over the recess, cut a slit for the door pull strap (I'd probably use a grommet or something similar to reduce wear), smooth everything out, paint and find a method to connect the strap to the door release latch... not really that complex so long as you have the basic skills for all steps involved.
I think it'd look nice if done correctly however you'd most likely lose the ability to lock your doors from the inside of the vehicle, but that could be worked around as well. |
They may not be my style, but if this is something you like and want it for your build, I encourage you to investigate it further. If you have the skills necessary to produce a clean looking product that works well and solves the interior locking issue, I'm sure others would also be interested in this. There have been several forum members over the years who have fabricated quality modifications and now sell them on here and on eBay, such as "GaleForce" and "Synolimit". Maybe you could do the same?
