ONEighty headlight mod

I've been looking over the ONEighty headlight posts and have decided to have mine done before I sell my DD and make the Z the primary.

Has anyone:
  • Just hooked up the wires that are intended to go to a switch to a 12 volt circuit that is on only when the car is running? Any reason not to?
  • Has anyone had any problems since now it's been a while after they've had the mod done? (Long term results)
I apologize, I assume it's been discussed, but I can't find any reference to my questions. I've called ONEighty 2 days ago and left a message but no response yet. I'm going to call again this afternoon.
Sincerely, Dave.

Headlights were my first mod back in 2011. Landing strip, dual halos, and paint work. I live close by as to be able to drive to them for work.

My first Issue was about 3 years after the install. There was fogging on the inside of the driver side clear shell. It was caused by a chemical reaction from degassing of the paint it was pretty minor on the passenger side. They told me it was out of warranty, and it couldn't be that because they always let the paint set overnight even though I clearly remember dropping the car off and picking it up the same day. Anyway I had to by a replacement shell off ebay, was about 500 for a pair which was the best price at the time. I gave them the other shell in lieu of paying for labor.

My 2nd issue was about 5 years after the install. One of the driver side landing strip leds would cut out intermittently. They re did the landing strip wiring for the driver side no questions and at no cost.

My current issue 7yrs and 50k miles later. Half of one of the driver side halos wont light up for what ever reason. I haven't had a chance to deal with it yet.

I drive my car harder then most people so I really think they do great work and go above whats required by their warranty. I would defiantly go have work done there again.

Have you tried emailing them or sending them a message on facebook? They seem to reply to those quicker. If not, there's always YuniqueLED who also does good work from what I've heard.

That's wierd - i had no problems reaching them via phone/email earlier this year.
No problems with the lights so far

Leo at Yuniqueled does excellent work. He's working on a second set of headlights for me right now and also did a one off set of drl's for me.
