Thanks for the feedback guys. Removed the linkage dust boot today which was the main source of vibration.

Is the coolerworx assembly better protected from the stock assembly such that the dust boot isn't necessary?
I was referring to the linkage boot that sits underneath the car. Even with this removed, there is an additional rubber piece that sits around the shaft of the shifter. So I don't see the potential of dirt/debris making its way into your cabin. (refer to NorthStyle's photo):

Still getting another buzzing sound as revs climb in 2nd and 3rd gear. Next up, I'm guessing it's either the position of the red plate (that holds the rubber boot inside the cabin) or the lateral adjustment screws of for the reverse lockout.

Initial impressions - Definitely more on the expensive side in terms of short shifters. And it's a bit finicky when it comes down to installation/adjustment. But I'm not sure if there's anything for the 370Z platform that can give you the same "clunk" into gear feeling as this.

Let me know if you find out where the high rpm buzzing is coming from. Mine does the same and it seemed to me it might be coming from the inner cable vibrating against the outer cable on the reverse lockout.

Is there a metal on metal slapping sound when shifting?

Mine is for sure coming from the lateral adjustment screws for the reverse lockout. 2nd gear has a bit of side-to-side play causing it to lightly tap against the screw. I'll tighten it up and report back. Still buzzing in 3rd gear though but I'm starting to think that this may be something I'll have to get used to over time.

Not sure if it's due to the cable. Looks and feels just like a bicycle brake/shift cable which should fit pretty snug in the housing. But at the same time, I'm also running a JWT lightweight flywheel so my transmission already makes all sorts of crazy noises.

Not that I'm aware of. I'll see if I can take a video later today to show what I'm experiencing.

I ordered and had mine installed a couple of months back, it was also making rattling noises but in addition during a hard shift it would make slapping/clapping noise i assumed this was due to the design of the shifter but it was annoying so i looked at some youtube vidoes and others CW shifters were not doing that SO i had another mechanic take it out look and he added a rubber bushing, i dont have a pic of what he did but the pic below shows where he added the bushing and its been quiet since...i really think that new design is broken...

When mine would make the buzzing noise I would move the cable around and it would quit but then come back as soon as I released the cable. Inexpensive bike cables don't have a coating on the inner cable so they don't fit real tight in the housing. It's metal on metal.

Maybe we can get SOHO to chime in on this issue.

Mine doesn't have the slapping noise either. I thought the new design was just the 370z mounting plate. Did they do something else?

You can get Gore tex lined bike cables. I have them on my mountain bike.

I've got Jagwire cables (the best) on my road bike. When I retired from the state I worked part time as a bike mechanic when I wasn't riding.

I also used to work at a bike shop. Yokozuna cables all day!
Not experiencing any cable rattle or hard shift noise though.

That's my understanding. The actual shifter assembly appears to be the same from all the photos I've seen. They just revised the mounting plate.

Here's a video to show the 2nd gear rattle (and very faint, in 4th)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77di97ox4RU

Should be fixed now after adjusting the screws. No more play in 2nd gear. Although I'm expecting a bit of noise in 3rd and 4th

Just found out about this shifter and it looks sick!

I read through the thread and I was just wondering if anyone has tossed one in recently and how the newer version is with rattling issues etc. Also, is Soho or someone else still selling them here?
