Cruise light blinking

I'm now in the club of those with blinky cruise control lights. Annoying to say the least.

Mine is intermittent at this point, but searches lead me to believe the ASCD switch is the culprit.

I was surprised to see how many 370Zs have had this issue. That's not a part that should go bad with that frequency, especially in low mile cars.

25k on mine.

Check the switches on the clutch and the brake. One of them has gotten loose and is causing the blinky blinky.... :tiphat:

Check the pedal switches, as per Ghostvette. If that is not the problem, try to find a copy of the FSM (Nissan has sent takedowns to most sites that had it but you may still be able to find a copy) - it usually has good diagnostic procedures.

define "Loose". Isn't it just where the switch goes bad? Is there a separate switch on both pedals? Figured it was on the clutch pedal only....

There are actually 2 switches, one on the clutch and one on the brake. This is where the FSM will come in handy, it will help you identify which one is which on the clutch and brake pedal and it will have directions on how to adjust them.

Given the mileage on your car, it's doubtful that the switches have gone bad. I've got 71k on my Z, and I've not had an issue, but I've had other cars that have had this problem. In every case, it has been the switch on either the brake pedal or the clutch pedal that has gotten loose (either backed out or the jam nut has loosened up) or the rubber pad in either pedal has fallen off. Good luck.:tup:

Something I put together a few years ago when my clutch switch was on its way out...upper switch is on the brake pedal and the lower is the clutch. Hope this helps. FWIW...my Z was 6 years old with only 22000 miles on it and the clutch pedal switch was shot. Car would have intermittent starting problems and once I replaced the switch, the problem was gone.

haven't gotten under there because it's 115 fricking degrees here....

Are these just like the safety switches on other vehicles...you push the clutch in and it presses a button on a switch mounted to the arm above the pedal....works similar?

Pretty much. The diagram mults sent is great for showing the locations.

Mine just started blinking yesterday. Did you guys confirm the issue was with the switches on the brake and/or clutch?

Tractionless 05-10-2020 02:10 PM

Only have a brake switch on my 7AT and I haven't seen it back on after replacement.

Do you remember the part number for the switch?

So just a heads up for anyone else that has this problem and ends up looking for the switches. Apparently there's actually four different switches total. Two on the brake and two on the clutch. My guess in my case it's the ASCD, but just to be on the safe side; I ordered all four. These are the switches:

25300-62J0E - ASCD switch (one goes on the clutch & one goes on the brake so 2 total)
25320-JN00A - Stop light switch (goes on the brake for stop light)
25325-D400E - Clutch pedal position (goes on the clutch)

Gungrave 07-19-2020 12:37 PM

And another heads up. I had all of the switches replaced, considering I didn't want to have to get a different one changed later. And it looks like this solved the problem. I had it done a few weeks ago and so far the light hasn't blinked again. The car is also running smoother when I switch gears and doesn't feel like it wants to stall from a stop.
