Drivers Window Moving Up and Down Rapidly On Its Own

Hello:

When the drivers side door is open the window goes up and down rapidly, moving only about 1/2" or less up and down from the closed position. It does this randomly, sometimes it will keep doing it while the door is open, sometimes not at all. I took it to the dealer soon after the problem originated (at the tail end of the warranty), but they couldn't replicate the motion, or find a problem. They said if it continued, they would still warranty it, but I don't want to take it in yet since it is hard to replicate, and it only does it from time to time (although it has definitely been getting much worse over time).

I tried the manual reset method that I've read on the threads here, with no luck (the problem I have seems to be different since other people describe a window that keeps lowering (not the same as my problem as described above)).

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance -

When it happens, mash the door switch in while the door is open and see if it stops. Sometimes the rubber boot over the switch get's all whampus. Check it out next time.

The same happened to mine. I took it to the dealer (was under warranty) and they said they found an electrical short somewhere and that it was fixed. However, it will still spaz out once in a while, so it's not completely fixed. Drives me nuts & auto dealerships suck!!!!

Thanks for your suggestion.

It's not doing it right now (of course), but I did notice that the rubber boot over the switch was actually somewhat sideways, so I straightened it out. I'll just keep using/testing it and report back....

Thank you for the reply.

As per the previous suggestion I am going to see if straightening out the boot works, and then report back. Wouldn't that be the world's easiest fix?! If it continues and I end up back at the dealership (ughhhh), but I can at least point out your *fix*....aloha!

I am happy to report that the window hasn't moved on its own since I straightened out the rubber boot over the switch! Thank you for the suggestion, I think you got it. I don't know if I'd have ever noticed it, the boot was only slightly off center (even the stealership *missed* it when I had taken it in a while back).

Good to hear! I'll have a look at mine next time I'm back in FLA. I really hope that is the issue. Thanks!

Mine acts stupid from time to time also. This has always been my issue. Mash the door pin and straighten out the boot. I need to get a new rubber boot. Probably have to buy the switch to get it. LOL

me too

2016 base model; drivers side window would go up and down on its own; the kind of up and down needed to open and close the door. fiddled with the boot and so far it seems to be a fix.

thanks for the help. cause i was stressed thinking it was something i jacked up in the various mods ive done.
