Painted Tach/Speedo bezels

1 Attachment(s)
I bought an extra instrument panel off eBay, disassembled it and painted the silver tach and speedo bezels black. Want some opinions before I remove mine and install the painted bezels on my panel. Ignore the silver gas/temp gauge, mine is already black.

ColtronZ 06-15-2018 01:51 PM

You know, as much as I dislike the silver, I kinda miss it breaking up the black.

CRiZO 06-15-2018 02:24 PM

Aside from agreeing it needs some contrast in there, it looks like an unfinished spray paint job tbh. Something about the texture.

GOBLUE 06-15-2018 03:23 PM

Let's see a picture of it after install. Interesting idea.

Now do the silver gauge faces...I think that would look good imho

Yeah, they weren't finished. I just wanted to test fit them to see if it's something I liked and wanted to finish. I'm wet sanding the orange peel and applying one more coat of base and then spraying them with a satin clear.

My gas/temp gauge faces are already black from the factory if that's what you're talking sbout.

No...I mean as a nice contrast to all the black i'd want a lighter colored gauge face(s. I just ordered these white face overlays for mine and I hope they'll look sharp when installed

Oh, I see what you're saying now. I'll see what they look like blacked out and go from there. What I'd really like to get are the black steering wheel controls.

I was going to get the overlays for my eclipse but I ended up finding a set of white face gauges. I love the look.

I re-did the bezels. I sanded all the crappy epoxy paint off and repainted with a good flat black and a couple coats of matte clear. They came out a lot better.

Looks pretty good man...I've always thought the silver looked kinda cheap lol

I feel the same about the silver. I notice that the Nismo's are black, at least the newer ones.

*J*ap***V*et* 06-17-2018 06:57 PM

Yea...looks better black imo

qtrskills 06-18-2018 02:38 PM

Sick. are those silver pieces removable or did you mask the whole thing to paint them?

They're removable. You just have to disassemble the trim from the gauges, super easy. Just some screws.

*J*ap***V*et* 06-18-2018 04:12 PM

Did you remove the lenses too? I just got my white gauge faces today and I'm curious on disassembly

No, I didn't have to do that but I do have the spare one I bought and can probably take a look at it tomorrow to see if I can figure it out.

redondoaveb 06-19-2018 05:08 PM

I looked at my spare tach/speedo today. After you take the bezel cover off, the complete lens cover just snaps right off. Couldn't be easier.

Is that for the tacho or speedo?

Both, it's one piece that covers both.

Finally got around to installing the bezels. I went ahead and painted the shifter surround and ring on cup holder.

JTM88 06-23-2018 06:03 PM

Are you planning on painting the door handles as well?

Post pics after you get them installed. Are you going to have to remove the needles for install?

Oh yeah, I painted an extra set of bezels if you're interested in them.

*J*ap***V*et* 06-23-2018 08:19 PM

Looks like they'll slide right past the needles. I will man...they have tons of colors too

That's good. I had to remove the needles on my eclipse when I modified my gauges. It's a pain in the *** to get them set right again.

$30.00 shipped for the bezels. If you decide you want them I'll take pics for you to look at first, before buying.

I thought you meant interior but just wanted to make sure. :icon17: Hadn't thought about it but I might buy an extra set off ebay and go ahead and do them. Thanks for the idea. :tiphat:

*J*ap***V*et* 06-23-2018 11:26 PM
