370z newer nismo model weight

Has anyone else noticed the last few years the nismo Z has incrementally got heavier? According to google, a 2018 Nissan 370Z NISMO Tech Manual Coupe now weights in at just about 3,500lbs. How has nissan taken an already very heavy for what it is car, and made it some how heavier? 3,500lbs is the same weight of a eco boost mustang, and just a couple hundred pounds shy of the GT model.

For reference, here are the weights for the last 4 years of the nismo models with the same configuration for each year:

2015: Curb weight: 3,346 lbs
2016: Curb weight: 3,394 lbs
2017: Curb weight: 3,398 lbs
2018: Curb weight: 3,493 lbs

My 2010 is listed at 3300 lbs. With a 4 point roll bar, twin turbo and all the goodies, APR wing, all the stuff removed from the rear trunk area, a full tank of gas and me in it she weighs 3420.

That seems light at 3420 for the TT kit and a driver. Maybe that curb estimate is a little heavier than actual.

I need to have it done again as it was a little over a year ago, but it was on the official scales used for race group and time trials events. I would assume they are pretty accurate as those are sanctioned events and run groups based on power to weight ratios.

Edit: the actual weight 3450 but I have lost 30 lbs since then!!! LOL

I don’t doubt the weight you had at the track, I just expected all that **** to weight more than 120lbs.

LOL, me too! I actually thought it would be close to 35 or 3600 lbs. The roll bar is lighter than I thought as well only about 60 lbs. but removing all the stuff in the rear of the car is pretty significant and adding changing the all the suspension part to SPL has to make a pretty big difference as well.

I've shaved around 150 pounds off which is exactly my body weight so it's like a phantom driver now for curb weight haha
