Functional Vent Fender

I wanna start by apologizing if this exists in another thread. I looked as best I could but I'm not the best with the search function.

The idea of a functional venting fender from places such as Fly1motorsports excites for sure. However, I cant for the life of me find a source that can confirm how its functional without modification to the inner fender liner. I cant find the installation instructions and every installation source I find online just installs it without modification to the inner fender liner. Can anyone on here identify or explain if there is a modification required for the functionality of the RS1 or the VF1?

As far as I know, they are cosmetic only. but they compliment the look if they are paired with a bodykit.

I think it is possible to make them functional but it needs some testing especially in track as it is where benefits the most from cooling.

Fenders you wouldn't see benefits from cooling as much as you would benefits from lowering the high pressure area in the wheel arch

You mean like they did with the acr viper and gt3rs

I am not that expert here, I thought it could evacuate some of the brake and tire heat.

Awhile back, several years ago I remember someone posting in thread that they simply put small vents in the wheel well liner.

I guarantee that the "vented" fenders from Fly1 and even Carbon Signal aren't functional. They're purely aesthetic.

if you want functional vents, you should contact Finite Element:

Used on a track car, positioning seems similar to what Porsche uses on the GT3 RS:

The liner will need modification for Fly1 to remotely function. Would probably benefit when combined with stillen's brake ducts.

That looks pretty sweet. Probably the best fender to match the shape of the Z that I have seen so far.

They look very sweet indeed

Bet it would suck as a DD

If there was a way to mold the "outline" and have it painted body color, leaving the vents carbon . . . i'd do that. I'm sure its possible, but just $$$/time

I really appreciate your input here. I was truly hoping that I was missing something and that they were indeed functional. But alas, it does not appear that way. They are pretty, but in the land of finite wallet depth it's function over form for me. If I come up with a way to manufacture my own Inner Fender modifications to pair with these you will all be the first to know.
