Driver window not doing the "auto up/down"

Just as the title states. Just bought a 2012 370z , the only issue I found with the car is that the driver door is not auto up/down feature. Also when driver door is open, lights come on when you press unlock on key fob but not staying on. Like the car doesn't know the door is open.

Is that a fuse? Some sort of switch that may be faulty? Or just need to do the up, hold 4 additional seconds thing to reset the window?

Anyone have this issue & resolve it?

Gotta do the window reset... car in on position (not running) hold both windows up until you hear the "clicks". 30 seconds should do it. #fixed

I'll give it a try tomorrow. Just got windows tinted yesterday and can't roll down / up for 2-3 days. Would it cause the light not to come on though? I remember my old Z having the problem with it not auto up/down but I don't remember the interior dome lights not coming on like the car doesn't know the door is open.

AstatenateZ 07-11-2017 05:14 PM

Well actually. I took it to tint shop and they said they were okay to roll down guess that's what happens in 102 weather. The tint dries faster. Lmao

Still have the issue. I'm hearing the clicking on the pass side. But not driver. Both Windows roll down. But when I open the driver door. The interior lights don't come on. The window doesn't do the auto up n down sequence. Not sure if it's a fuse. As it seems the window works properly. It's just the auto up n down isn't working and the interior lights aren't coming on when you open the driver door. Only pass door. The car clearly can't tell when the driver door opens.

So fuse? Switch loose somewhere? Car hasn't been in accident. At least not reported. So not sure what would cause it.

I'd check the door-is-closed switch.

I checked both locations for any tears, loose connections and I couldn't find any malfunctions on anything. Does anyone know what fuse it would be? Or anything else I could check? TIA

So not to insult your intelligence but is the dome light switch in the "door" position or the "off" position?

flyfish 07-13-2017 09:50 PM

Verify the switch in picture 2 is functioning.

Interior light should turn on and off (about 10 second delay to turn off) when the door is open and you depress and release that switch, same goes for the auto window function, no delay of course.

Try it a few times on the pass side to get a feel for what should be happening.

That might be my issue then, it's compressing / decompressing but light is not going on / off like the pass door is. Also now the pass door is doing the auto up / down but now when I open the door 3-4 times the window just keep rolling down. It doesn't auto up. It just auto downs. not sure what's going on, basically to sum up...

Driver door isn't doing sh*t - dome light is NOT coming on when door opens, window is NOT auto up OR down

Pass door - some light DOES come on, window does auto down when door opens but window is not auto upping when door gets closed.

Possible 2 bad switches?

SOUTHZZ 07-16-2017 03:53 PM

Possibly this will be a quick fix for the OP's problem.
Window&seat switches have been a problem for both the Z33&Z34 cars.

Keep in mind,Nissan contracts out most components like this.

Other than replacing the switch assembly,a quick fix at times is just to bang on the panel next to the switch. For whatever reason, contacts are "dirty" or...?The switch may work. Another is to use a hair dryer to heat the switch."Expansion"--of the materials may start things working.
Worked for me and many others.

Bottom line,Nissan saving $,uses cheap components to keep the selling price down--grr!

It would be so great if this works. A+

AstatenateZ 07-17-2017 09:20 AM

I'll give that a shot! @SOUTHZZ thanks guys!! Anyone know the part # on the switch?

flyfish 07-17-2017 02:06 PM

Before you start replacing items, verify that the switch is bad. Looks like it is held in with one philips screw. Pull it out and jump the wires in the connector to see if everything functions.

Here is the switch part number;

Extended Storage Switch

Worth a shot.

You can pick up some electrical contact cleaner at the autoparts store.. once you find the faulty switch it might just need a cleaning instead of replacement.

Perfect I'm going to check into the fuses and whatnot making sure they're all there, Not blown, and pushed down! I'm in the process of putting coils and new wheels n tires on the car. Getting it aligned. Etc so I'm a little side tracked as of now. Once that's all good to go, I'm gonna start checking into the issue.

Perfect! Will do! I noticed that it was held in with screws and I'm gonna give that a shot! Thanks everyone for your input! If this is the only issue I have with the car I'm doing pretty well

Well finally got around to pulling the switches out and testing them. Found that my pass + driver side are both faulty. My driver one was actually partially melted. Guess it went completely bad... hope wiring male side of wire is still working properly. Guess I will be ordering 2 new switches and see! Wish me luck guys!!

2004YZFR1 08-09-2017 07:19 PM

My 2009 is doing this and the door lock switch on both doors doesn't work some times. But the doors lock and unlock from the outside with the key fob or when you touch the door button.

My right window did the auto down thing when i opened the door but wouldn't auto up.

And then one time the right and left windows didn't auto down when opening the doors?
