Full carbon fiber B-pillar replacements

8 Attachment(s)
Hi everybody, I want to see if you guys have any interest in full carbon fiber b pillar replacements. These are 100% carbon fiber with varying cosmetic weaves you can choose from (2x2, 4x4, plain, honey comb, dyed fiberglass/ carbon fiber hybrid, spread tow). These come with sturdy brackets on the back that snap into the OEM grommets that the plastic one used. Fitment is the same as oem and these pieces can be put on and taken off without having to worry about the back brackets breaking. Each part will come clear coated in an automotive 2k clear to protect against yellowing/ oxidizing. All in all, each piece comes out to be ~65 grams. Here are some examples (I am currently waiting for honey comb to come back in stock) I will be posting purchasing details in the for sale section in a little bit.

Depending on the price, I would think that there would be interest.

SpawnAero charged between $150 (CF) and $200 (CF and Kevlar), but I am not sure if they are still around.

Covers are ~100.

Not feeling the checkered taxi cab look, by the way..

Nixin 06-21-2017 07:34 PM

:iagree: with cooltoy. I like the blue cf pieces. Can you make it a darker blue?
How much?

Red would be nice

Yeah i feel you on the spread tow carbon, looked cool off the car but when on it had an entirely different look. Ive seen the spawn aero pieces before and 150 is for a fiberglass piece with a single layer of carbon on top. Id be willing to offer that option but all of the pieces i have made so far have been 100% carbon fiber. Also with all of spawn aero pieces, they did not include an easy or very strong mounting system. My pieces come accurately pre fitted with the three white plastic clip securely epoxied to carbon fiber pedestals the back of the part (ill post pictures tomorrow) so all you have to do is snap it in place. As of now I am looking at $250 shipped for full carbon or kevlar (plain, 2x2, or 4x4) and $15 more for specialty weaves such as honeycomb, colored or reflections carbon such as the example included.

I have seen the only ones an the market recently are from seibon and they are $300+ and i believe they are just 3m taped on (correct me if I'm wrong).

I would also be willing to give a discount for a group buy of 5 or more

Most orders can be expected to be shipped ~10 days (including weekends) after payment is recieved. It would be slightly longer if I have to order a requested weave I do not have.

Thats the darkest carbon fiber/ dyed fiberglass they offer. check out the reflections carbon I posted in my response to cool toy its a little more mild but has an absolutely stunning appearance. I can contact the company i order from and ask about darker blues. I would assume that the carbon fiber/ dyed kevlar would be a darker blue since kevlar is naturally a yellow color. I will also offer gloss or matte clear finishes. The matte finish would make the blue a little less pronounced.

Forgot to post this custom style that i was messing around with a while back. I wanted to know what you think about this. It has a forged carbon fiber look to it but this one was done with longer strands. I am still messing around with different methods of making this style to match Lamborghini's forged carbon used on all their new cars.

I too would like to hear about a price range for these CF B-pillar replacements.

I'm not into the colors.Although,I have seen covers done by ZCF in red and blue
Kevlar/CF hybrid. They did look pretty good. The blue was very dark.It really popped
in the sunlight. Colors in general would have to blend with the car's paint IMO.

Don't know the value in doing overall B-pillar replacements.
It seems that the purpose is cosmetic, looks.
I have CF covers on my B-pillars(from ZCFcovers).
Cost me 90 bucks shipped free.Sell on e-bay.
Been on for almost 2 years. Look great

danegrey 06-22-2017 06:58 AM

be interested based on pricing, and how they are attached

cooltoy 06-22-2017 07:16 AM

Prices are posted 6 posts above.

The covers I mentioned from ZCF(the ones I have)are solid CF plate.
Also, have matching grain direction//// to the rear. They have a great resin coating with UV protection.
I'd sure suggest you taking note to the finish. Make sure it has UV protect.
Mine look like new after 2 yrs on the car.

JARblue 06-22-2017 09:43 AM

OP you should probably contact AK370Z to get permission to sell your product on the forum. Generally, you have to be a paying vendor. But AK usually lets the small time guys get away with just paying a small fee per item sold.

carbon fiber grain will come exactly as you stated /// and will be identical on both sides unless requested otherwise. I also clear coat my parts (typically 3 coats) in a 2k clear coat which has great uv stabilization and chemical resistance.

Thanks for that info. I will definitely contact him.

I love this, I am not big into putting CF covers with 3m, would much rather have the full replacement. Headed to the for sale section now, thanks.

Also is it possible for you to fabricate or mold CF door handle replacements, I have been looking but all I find is covers...

SOUTHZZ 06-22-2017 04:52 PM

Consider the cost

Just from my personal experience(for what it is worth)I have done a bunch of CF to my 370 and earlier,my 350Z.
I agree ,3-M covers are just faux CF. A vinyl cover. Furthermore, has no depth.
However,a well made CF cover made from high quality CF plate with a
premium coating is most cost effective.
I hate to keep giving a shout out for ZCF. But,these guys make premium covers that fit &last. In addition, the pricing is very low.
Made in the U.S. by guys that own&know the car.
Whats not to like?

In addition, the pics of the OP's replacements appear to protrude out further than stock.
Camera angle?Or,fiberglass core covered with CF making it thicker?

cooltoy 06-22-2017 07:15 PM

I am happy with my EVO-R covers.

heres a picture of the back for those interested. its fairly simple but very strong. the clips sit on a carbon pedestal and are secured into place with an epoxy putty

I am not sure what makes you say they stick out further? Here is a picture from the side. All of the parts I make are made strictly using carbon fiber no cheap fiberglass like many others.

Here are the reds available through the composites company.

The first is red mirage. The red color comes from a strand of colored copper wire that looks stunning in the sun.

The second is a more traditional carbon fiber/ kevlar hybrid which would be more vibrant.

Also another option I would be able to do is spray a red candy over top of traditional carbon fiber to give the entire part a red hue.

TreeSemdyZee 06-23-2017 11:43 PM

Definitely like the red mirage.

Seibon makes full replacement finishers.
Nismo makes covers. Would rather have authentic nismo personally.
