I took my Z on a nice long ride yesterday and really examined the dash under unobstructed sunlight and it's really starting to look like crap. I'm definitely considering this product.

Did you also use this on the leather on the top of the door cards?

*Hi all. Need dash repaired. Has anyone ever used Fibrenew? Particularly the one in Newport Beach? They're on yelp but no reviews. Are they reputable or a bad investment? If not, any recommendations in Southern Cali to fix dashboard? Got a crack and dent in the dash. Any feedback helpful on Fibrenew or any reputable place to fix dash in socal. Thanks for any help.

FYI, Fibrenew locations are franchises. If you're lucky, you get a crew like this

Best of luck.

Thanks for that. So you've had them work on your car?

Jayhovah 05-27-2021 02:47 PM

Well you can add me to the list here. Just took my car out for it's monthly exercise and noticed my dash has started getting sticky as well. 44k miles and mostly garaged.

I’m going to be adding nano ceramic tints. Reduces the heat in the interior by a lot. Xpel xr plus is the one I’m going to do iirc.

Sorry to hear. I hate it. Changing out dash seems to be such a painful exercise too.

It’s not heat in many cases. Sticky dash seems to be developing on cars sitting in the garage, lol.

No. Thought about it. Still undecided. I have a pair of touring seats needing some love.

Fibrenew quoted me 350.00 to fix dash. Going to look into getting used dash from junkyard or something like eBay. Maybe dash and install could be as much as a fix. Probably will cost more to replace.

Did you put anything on it to clean it or protect it? I use nothing but a damp cloth with water.

nis350 05-29-2021 02:01 AM

just curious how your dash is holding up?

Yes, applied cleaner twice. The instructions are pretty clear and point out that the coating should be applied shortly after the cleaner or have to start over. Thinking about it now it probably would have turned out better (less splotchy) if I hadn't applied it sparingly. I was afraid if I ran out then I'd be SOL.

Anyways, definitely not a UV issue in my case since the car has been garaged for 10 years with only 50k miles. I bought a few of these to soak up the humidity in the car, unfortunately too late:

That stuff didn't make any difference, I just bought a cover for the dash which turned out less ugly than I thought. I took a peek under the cover a few days ago and it's completely covered in gray dust.

I'm turned off on Nissan over this, they should have taken ownership of the problem. Won't be buying another Nissan anytime soon.

nis350 05-31-2021 10:49 PM

the sticky dash is just terrible.

is the gray dust from the dash cover or the actual dash?

I wonder if wrapping the dash is a viable option. Just don’t know if the glue would stick as the dash “melts”. I personally hate the look of dash cover, I just can’t stand it.

But then again, during really hot days, the dash literally melted and turned shiny, creating a strong reflection on the windshield, enough to distort my forward vision, hated that even more.

I am sure you'll have all kind of bubbles under the wrap.... the dash cover also covers the speakers on the dash, but probably better than the melted dash.
