Anyone else hate their splash guards ?

I have a pearl white 370... And ive owned it for about 2 months now and I cant seem to get myself to like the splash guards that came with my car...

I just dont think they go with the lines of the car, esp the one by the front wheel and imo the rear ones almost just looks out of place to me as well... I see almost 99% of the cars on here have them. During my next car wash i am going to remove them and see how I like it without them... Anyone else feel the same way ?

And if anyone has a Pearl white with sport wheels without them and can post a pic I would appreciate it.. Im just guessing it is gonna look cleaner and maybe put more of the attention to the lines of the car instead of breaking it up with the splash guards installed...

heh, to each his own. I actually like mine.

Hate them as well. When trying to locate my car it was a pain because I didn't want splash guards and every Z had them. The salesman couldn't understand why I didn't want them. He tried talking into just getting one with them and then removing them for free. Of course they still wanted me to pay the cost of having splash guards on the car. Luckily the finally located the car I was looking for. But yeah, don't like the splash guards at all.

kenchan 12-03-2009 04:04 PM

im usually not a fan of mudflaps and splash guards but on my z and g i use them.

chuckd05 12-03-2009 04:31 PM

thanks for the pictures chris... much appreciated!

ChrisSlicks 12-03-2009 04:44 PM

You're welcome.

simota1 12-03-2009 04:58 PM

i actually added mud flaps to mine :ugh2: haha sorry but i like em :D everyone has their likes and dislikes.... i do admit it flows better without them... and plus... all the z's that arrived on guam never came with mudflaps.... so right now im the only z with mudflaps  makes me different... lol

Zsteve 12-03-2009 06:15 PM

like the ones on my touring model

AK370Z 12-03-2009 06:32 PM

WOW.. I love my splash guards on the Z and I refuse to drive a Z without it! (I added them to my 350Z as well). I think they look great. With them on, I think the side profile by the wheel looks more complete (IMHO).

Do you see what I am trying to say? If there weren't for those splash guards, the wheel wall wouldn't look complete (at least in the rear)

But again this is my opinion. I completely understand if you don't like them :(.

speedoflife 12-03-2009 06:41 PM

I personally like the look of the 370 better with them. I think the front looks 4x better especially. Just an opinion of course, but I prefer them to the Z's without them.

frost 12-03-2009 06:41 PM

Love em.

TipsZ 12-03-2009 06:52 PM

I like the design of them on my pearl white 370z, however, mine are not exactly color matched and it annoys the mess outta me!! The color is ever so slightly off. I am considering a vinyl overlay on them .. maybe black em out or something ...

chuckd05 12-03-2009 07:06 PM

after seeing them off ive decided I like them more than I thought... The rear looks better with them, but im still un sure of the front. Thanks for the opinions though.

Also if I do take them off atleast I know some one some where will prob take them off my hands ...

Here is a picture of mine on my car , taken with a crumby iphone camera tho...

Be very careful about removing the rears. Unlike the 350, the rears on the 370are attached with double sided tape, as well as the screws. You stand a good chance of removing paint on the body panel.

simota1 12-04-2009 12:20 AM

^^^ he is right.... there is double stick tape in the rear.... jus peel em off slowly...

Chan Chee Hoe 12-04-2009 05:58 AM

I would love the splash guards,S'pore cars did not came with it,too expensive here the 4 pcs of 'plastic' it costs S$1500.00....

shumby 12-04-2009 06:29 AM

hey all jokes aside I can oder you them here in canada and ship them to you. i think the set of 4 would be $300 CAD. then shipping. PM me if you are interested.

Zdom 12-04-2009 07:15 AM

Actually I didn't realize the option for them. Mine doesn't have them, can you get them after market, I like the look and they are practical as well.

didymus 12-04-2009 07:34 AM

I don't like em

shumby 12-04-2009 07:37 AM

ya can only get them at your dealer as far as i know. e-bay might have them though

ZPirate 12-04-2009 07:45 PM

I like the splash guards too. Not only the look, but how they protect the car. My car didn't come with them. It's the first thing I added.

If you don't like them simply remove them. Only a couple of screws and a pin/tape hold them on.

The car looks real good with Splash guard IMO. I think I actially might put them on mine. Should I go to the dealer to get a set installed? Might be too pricey? What'chu guys think?

PapoZalsa 12-04-2009 08:41 PM

They look way better that the 350 ones.

Thanks for the link! I'm not sure if I should install them myself though. I don't like messing things up on my Z. :icon08:

You should def try to do it yourself. That's how you start building up your confidence. You'll feel really proud too at the end.

We have a section where we keep all the .pdf manuals. Here's the pdf instructions on how to install them. Take a look and I have confidence that you can DO IT! :tiphat:

^^^^ agreeed ak is absolutely right u feel ten times better when u do it urself... its more fullfilling when u mod urself :D dont be scared the mud flaps were easy to install... u jus gotta take ur wheels off if u wanna do a good job.... :D

Zsteve 12-05-2009 08:42 AM

I like the spalsh guards too but I think the shape would look even better if they were smoothly molded into the stock pieces so you wouldnt see any lines from laying on top of another piece. They should have just made it part of the bumper and side skirt from the get go.

Exactly...I reckon the OEM ones look rice.
