Just another no wait. Fly 1 Duckbill Spoiler Review

Hi,
there doesnt seem to be that many pictures and reviews for the Fly1motorsport Duckbill spoiler so i thought it would be helpful to make another thread.

Itll help with future searches.

First off, Lohit at Fly1 is exceptionally well with communication and keeping me updated. i had no problems. My carbon spoiler got to me rather quick despite the lead time they mention on the website and i was sent a proper tracking number, etc. Customer service is great.

I took advantage of the black friday sale and got the carbon duckbill as the amuse style is too big for my taste. I coudlnt find any information regarding mounting points, etc so heres some pics. There are 4 mounting points with a threaded nut or something inside.

I still dont have my car back yet so i cant comment on flushness and ease of install.

If i remember there isnt any way to access the outside mounting points without cutting into the hatch? maybe someone can enlighten me.

it comes clear coated already but i need to play it safe so im going to have it recleared one more time.

Ill keep you all posted. Shoots then.

Not talking smack or anything like that but My body work friend pointed out some waves in the clear and gel coat. He did mention the product looks really good (friend does show cars). For many people I am positive the condition it comes in is completely acceptable but I need to minimize all waves as it would throw off the rest of the cars.
More of the waiting game....

That means nothing in a picture. Reflection, the lens, lighting all distorts that.

Hmmmm, not sure what you mean by that but its important to me for it to be nice in person without waves and orange peel. I mean heres how my car currently looks and its not even fully polished yet.

Usually things looks way better in person than in pictures. We should all know that pictures and video do no justice for our cars.

Ohk so this is the last piece of Z puzzle but it's running into some unexpected slight troubles. Then again its aftermarket so eh not too big of a surprise.
So here's the clips for the stock sport spoiler. http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z...psozlmpm9n.jpg

These come out from the exterior by using a tiny flat head and basically pulling it upwards. Careful not to hit your paint. There is a little gasket on it too and it looks like water won't get into the trunk of you left it in place. It's like a little bowl.

So I test fit the spoiler but it's looking like the two center bolts don't line up 100% with the factory holes by a small margin like maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch? Will probably need to slightly make the factory hole enlarged towards the center.

The outside bolts looks like they line up with the factory hole BUT you cant tighten them down because you can't access the outer holes from the inside. Probably need to drill into the hatch from the inside. I don't want to use too much double stick tape as my paint on my car is still soft from the whole paint job but depending on how flush it is, some people may be okay with just no bolts and all double stick tape.
FYI, proper automotive 3m double stick tape with no bolts will hold solid for sure if you use enough. Just mentioning it as that is always an option for future buyers.
These are expected challenges to run into with aftermarket in general. This shouldn't deter people from buying this wing but I'm just trying to help.
Well that's all folks. Shoots den.

Spoiler installed but no pictures yet as its 8pm.

So the good news is the two holes toward the center on the spoiler go into the stock holes so no drilling is needed!

As far as the outside two, you would have to drill into the trunk. The spoiler fit flush enough so ended up just using double stick tape for the outside area.

Use a washer for the two center bolts with a rubber butyl like sealant so the water doesn't leak in. The other holes were just covered with tape since the spoiler covers all of them. Will post pics in the day time.

Fly1 spoilers fits exceptionally well and am glad the two center bolts lined up perfectly.

Good to hear that no drilling is needed with a stock spoiler hole! Been wanting to get the spoiler for awhile, how long was wait time?
How was taking the stock spoiler off?
