How to turn off vdc completely
 

Greetings

I'm trying to find out how to turn the VDC off. The current settings will disable 95% of it. When you try drifting, it will activate.

Found a bunch of threads in here but they're not very specific and clear. It's mostly back n forth chatter.

As far as I can tell, you have to

1) take the fuse off
2) Disconnect some bosch device by the e-brake.


I don't have much more information than that so I decided to make a new thread.

Specific question is, the VDC fuse is in a pack of 3 fuses that together take the ABS off.

How do you take the fuse off and not turn the ABS or other functions off?

that's 1 way to do it.

I found this through research.

"This will disable VDC, TCS, AND ABS!! So, BE CAREFUL! I want to stress that this should only be done for track use and then only by experienced drivers!

I did some googling and found a very simple way to disable all the braking electronics while at the track...
Open the hood ("bonnet" for our Aussie/Brit friends)
Open the battery compartment cover
In front of the battery is a fuse box. Look at the top of the fuse box and you'll notice the fuse positions are labled, with one labled "VDC". Note the fuse layout and the position of that fuse.
Open the fuse box.
If your fuses are the same as mine, the one in the VDC position should be a red fuse with the number "50" (meaning a 50 ampere fuse) on top. Remove it.
PUT THE FUSE IN A SAFE AND EASILY REMEMBERED SPOT!
Close the fuse box.
Close the battery compartment
Close the hood
Drive the tires off the car without any interference from a computer.....but BE CAREFUL!!
When I found this online, it gave no description of what happens in terms of idiot lights, feel, etc, so I'll do that now...

First thing I noticed after I started the car is .... nothing. Everything appeard normal. However, once the car got above 20 mph, the ABS, VDC-OFF, and SLIP lights all came on and stayed on. No flashing, no bells (a good thing.) I tooled around a bit at about 25 - 40 mph, going easy on the brakes just making sure everything still worked as I would expect without the electronics. Everything felt fine. So, I then tested to see if they really were off.....and they were Full tire lock-up. It was really weird driving a street car again without ABS. Last time I drove a street car without ABS was at least 15 years ago. The SkipBarber race cars don't have it, but they have WAY better pedal feel so it's totally different.

Then I tested cornering with some drift. Felt awesome. Way smoother and predictable.

Lastly: I brought it home, parked it and shut it off. I then put the fuse back in and started the car. All the lights were still on! Uh-oh. I tried disconnecting the battery to reset the computer, but that didn't work either. Hmmmm....Oh well. I thought I'd just take it into Nissan and see if they could find the issue. I then started to drive to the gas station and as soon as it got above 20 mph, all the lights went out. *WHEW*. Tested the brakes -- ABS worked again. Tried to peel out and VDC cut power. So everything seemed ok."

Apparently you can't keep the ABS on while taking the VDC off.

If you follow the DIY reference in my post, ABS remains, and VDC is totally deactivated ... no nannies at all, so you "can" keep ABS whilst disabling the nannies that are left active once you hit the VDC button.

I read up on it and it says how to do a mod but not much about the fuses and stuff. I'll keep looking.

No fuses to pull.

Simply insert a switch into the power wire to the yaw-sensor and VDC is disabled entirely.

You continue to have the benefit of ABS.

No fuses need to be pulled
