I put my car fragrance right where the vent is , and this happened. Anyone have this problem? Any fix?

cooltoy 10-08-2016 01:46 PM

SouthArk370Z 10-08-2016 03:00 PM

Junkman2008 may have a video on how to fix that.

barncobob 10-08-2016 03:14 PM

did it spill or just the air coming in distributed the vapors

I believe the air distributed the vapor, quite upsetting looking like some old man nut sack right now

If I did have a video, it would consist of removing that part and replacing it. There is no fixing that issue. That's a parts replacement issue. That my friend is FUBAR.

barncobob 10-08-2016 08:09 PM

im 67 just checked my nutsack and it looks like the original finish:nutswinger:

I'd contact the company that made that thing and show them what it did to the trim. Make them pay for it to be replaced.

If the air freshener was used the way it was supposed to be used, then it's their fault that it screwed up your dash.

Another thing you could do is remove the trim .. clean it up sand it and plasti dip it... matte black looks very stock ... I did that to my pillar pods for the gauge looks very good ... also did that to my 350z trim around the radio cause it was scratched up ... looked brand new after

EP370z 10-09-2016 08:21 AM

What air freshener was is so I know not to get it?

axmea? 10-09-2016 10:17 AM

There is no fix for that.
I never liked hanging anything on my vents and would rather spray underneath the carpets, behind and underneath the seat, and the boot. My friends use those that come in canisters and find a place to tuck it unseen.

Nixin 10-09-2016 10:17 AM

Or you can match the rest of your interior with that 'freshener'

OK I lied when I said no fix. There is a texture coating you can use that is better than plastidip. Restorers use it, car audio guys use it, guys use it for their custom gauges or trim. Lots of work but you have an alternative to fix it. Time consuming for such a small part. SEMS or 3M and others make it.

The simplest, most trouble-free and best cosmetically looking thing to do is to replace it. All this other stuff is for the birds and it won't look perfect.

agreed. just replace the darn thing.

ChopsZ 10-10-2016 10:25 PM

Don't know why my suggestion was completely ignored, but it's still the best thing to try first. Make them pay for the repair that their own product ruined.

How do you know that the OP used the product as mandated? That company would laugh at you all the way to the courthouse.

ChopsZ 10-11-2016 10:06 PM

Whatever...

EP370z 10-19-2016 09:59 AM

Still don't know what brand it was???
