Active Sound Enhancement (ASE)

Must turn off ASAP. Just purchased my 370Z Nismoe yesterday and I hate this the most! lol

I'm browsing the forum looking for options to see how many people have already figured it out but figured I would ask too.

I'm not sure if I notice mine since I got my Touring on the 8th. I've got exhaust coming on Friday so hopefully I'll just never hear it. Seemed like a terrible idea from the jump though.

well according to the information is can be turned off but I still have no idea how to get the menue to those options. I just tried for 30 minutes but couldnt figure it out.

A friend suggested finding the wire leading to the microphone in the engine bay and pull the plug.

i work at nissan and was told that i need to get a tech to connect it to consult to toggle through the options. too lazy to bring my car back there but also am annoyed heavily by the ASE with my Fast Intentions exhaust and ART pipes

Well nobody at the nissan dealer I went to seems to have a clue.

As per flyfish/cooltoy above, "2016 AV service manual on p.85 for the Bose wo_Navi section." Even if that is not where the info is actually located, they should be able to find it. If the tech doesn't understand, you don't want them touching your car.

I dont nessasarily understand what that page of the service manual is saying. Looks like it can be turned of but there aren't instructions to do so for the consumer. It just shows a menu unless I am being derpy. I assume the Tech's at Nissan should know what to do with it.

(my emphasis)
So far, no one has provided info on how to make the changes without CONSULT. CONSULT is Nissan's diagnostics package and I doubt you are going to find any non-Nissan-dealer shops that have it.

If you can find the OBD/CAN address(es), you should be able to make the changes yourself.

I see this written so often in this forum lol...

If the stock exhaust had any balls what so ever it probably wouldn't be an issue. My first thing to bolt on...

Question OP

What's the problem with it? What is it actually doing inside your car. (Guys, I understand what it's supposed to do, I want actual owners' feedbacks)

httorihanzo 09-24-2016 12:05 PM

It's a high pitch hum/whine when you get into higher RPM ranges. Sounds like your playing GT6. Like a video game noise. You can't tell it's coming from the speaker but It's exactly what you think when you first hear "fake engine noise in the cabin".

Wife couldn't tell.

Car buddies of mine immidiatly asked me what that noise is.
