AK370Z, Wow those are so sweet. That's what I want to do with my ride when I get one. Is that some random picture you found or is that yours.

I find all this angst (not referring to you specifically here...I'm speaking in general) about things like daytime running lights and rear wipers and no display of tire pressure a bit odd.

Personally, I always drive with my lights on (sometimes parking only but normally all)...my 370 (and in fact most of my vehicles) have/have had the auto-headlight setting and I rarely use it. My 2000 Z/28 had DRLs and I thought there were a bit stupid...if you want lights on for safety then having the LIGHTS ON is a better solution...DRL are for people too lazy or stupid to understand that (no offense to anyone, really). If you want them just to look "cool"; that's fine but why blame Nissan for not putting something on the car some people think are cool and others think are stupid/look bad?

As to the rear wiper...what is the big deal??? I NEVER used the rear wiper on my 350 and the only vehicles they are actually a benefit for are vehicles like SUVs which have a vertical or almost vertical rear window (because road grime and water tends to collect there)...a sweep rear window will rarely have that problem.

I can point out vehicles costing multiples of the 370 that don't have some of the equipment/features the 370 does have as well as features the 370 doesn't have and that they don't have either...if Nissan put everything on the car that anyone could possibly want so that it would please everyone; the car would weight 4,500lbs..and cost far more...I can only imagine the screaming that would generate and people clamoring for all the unnecessary do-dads to be removed from the car!!! :rofl2:

True.. but they could've made those as an option.. then whoever wants to pay more for the "cool/unnecessary" stuff then, they can.

Crash 01-30-2009 02:58 PM

I like my back window wiper! When I'm sitting at a light in the rain, I can't see who's coming up behind me or from how far sometimes. Turning that sucker on makes things clear again! :)

It's a manufacturing cost issue...a manufacturer simply can't do that without cutting into profits and that's especially true for a vehicle made offshore.

That's why most cars today, especially foreign made cars, offer a couple of "packages" and maybe a couple of individual options and that's it.

tvfreakazoid 02-01-2009 02:51 PM

Or get a rear mounted camera. I may do that with my 370.

I'd have thought that someone as intelligent as you could have worked out the reason why people discuss options/voice opinions and suggest variations in a car forum - especially as that is what you have just done.

Man, you're a paradoxico. :drama:

semtex 02-01-2009 03:27 PM

I don't like DRLs, I want to control whether or not I have lights on. But I have come to begrudgingly consider them a necessary evil. I simply see too many idiots out there driving in the dark or in the pouring rain or heavy fog with no lights on. And I damn nearly got killed by one of these idiots 3 months ago -- that's how I totaled my 350.

BanningZ 02-02-2009 02:35 AM

Does the 370Z have a night sensor equipped?

The past few cars I've owned had this, and I find it to be a nice feature.

I think a lot of times when people scream that its a laziness thing regarding drl's or night sensors, its another way of justifying why the car manufacturer didn't spend the time to add industry standards it lieu of saving money.

Crash 02-02-2009 02:42 AM

OMG!!! TRAX!!!! ^^^ Banning, I had 2 of those RC Trax cars! Those were freaking awesome!!! I haven't seen those since I was maybe 7-ish.

Anyway, I REALLY hope they put the light sensor on since even the camry's have them.

tvfreakazoid 02-02-2009 04:05 AM

A light sensor would be really nice touch.

By night sensor, are you guys referring to where you can leave the headlights on 'auto' and they'll come on once it gets dark? If so, the Z has that feature. I don't use it though, because it waits until it's too dark to turn the lights on for my taste.

You can adjust the sensitivity of the sensor (at least you can if you have the nav system/info center - I'm not sure how you would adjust it without that info center).

However, I don't use my auto-on feature either; mostly because I always drive with my lights on and also because in "auto" in the daytime, the lights will come on while I'm in the garage and then, of course, turn off again as soon as I roll outside.

No. for example: In the t-23 Celica there was no switch. It just turned on when it got dark. It could be sunny out, but if I go through a tunnel the low beams automatically turn on, not the DRLs.

semtex 02-02-2009 11:11 AM

^^ So in the Celica there was no choice as to whether or not the lights would come on automatically? Because what you're describing is pretty much the same thing I'm describing, except in Nissans you can opt to disable the system.

Awesome! I really can't complain that we get an option for it, so I'm happy. Rather have the option, than no option at all. :D

Crash 02-04-2009 04:26 AM

Most cars you can disable that automatic on feature. They added it for MANY reasons... All GM cars that had that option except for the 80's Cadillacs had the option to disable it.

Unless my memory is failing, you could not disable it on the fourth generation Fbodies unless you wanted to re-wire the circuit!

Here are some PIAA TERA Evolution 6000 LED lights in the parking light socket. You really don't have to buy PIAA for the same output. Any 6000K LED will probably give you the same results

almost zero :D
well i found it hard to manuever my hand thru the wheel well
especially when trying to "twist" the tube where the bulb is
and i already have small asian hands lol

other than that its simple really(thanks to a member**batman_4** here that gave me the guide to do the replacement)
1. to make it simple when working on the driver side turn your wheel all the way to the right to give you more room

2. remove the clip holding the wheel well( theres only one)

3. slowly pull out the plastic wheel well and youll see the bottom part of the headlight assembly

4. look for a cylindrical grey tube in the area where the bulb is(you can almost tell right away when you see it)
twist counter clockwise and pull

5. remove the stock bulb and replace with the LED's(note use paper towels when handling the bulb to avoid any oils from your hands burning out the bulb)

6. put everything back together and do the passenger side and you are done

about 5 minutes each side :D

tvfreakazoid 04-13-2009 04:12 AM

Pretty nice. But i'm waiting for the audi style led lights.

Forumite 04-13-2009 06:41 AM

Very nice!

I may have to do this too, having a brain crmp atm but dont the corner light turn on yellow(ish) when stock?

that looks good, im assuming that the brightness of the LED overpower the small amber LED there as well?

My 2002 Trans Am was fully loaded and didn't have the automatic lights. I think it was only Camaros that had that, and yes you're right, you had to change it over to the non-auto circuit. The other GMs had the option of turning them off. I've had a lot of GMs with the auto headlight deal.

As I recall on my '00 Z/28 you could turn the headlights off manually after you started the car but yes, unless a re-wire was done there was nothing you could do to prevent the headlights from coming on when you turned the ignition if it was dark enough out to trigger it.

I never messed with the headlights but I did do a very minor re-wire so that my fog lights didn't turn off when I went to hi-beams...I wish I could do the same in my M45 but I've no idea how easy/difficult it would be!

PIAA Lights

Hi, does anyone know if the following bulbs are compatible also?

H429: H6W SUPER TERA 6500K LED H6W BAYONET WHITE

AK370Z 08-21-2011 03:03 AM

PIAA Corporation USA - Hyper Tera Evolution LED wedge bulb

I think this is the bulb that's used in the pic. PIAA TERA EVOLUTION. Will I ever spend $98 for a pair of 194 bulbs? probably not. But it's there if you want to buy it.

How do you get rid of the small amber LED that's embedded in the small corner of the parking light area? I have replaced my 194 parking lights with LEDs but the single amber LED is driving me nuts. Help?!

Nut_N_Much 03-07-2015 09:01 PM

DRL maybe ! 2 examples of halo behind the lens. One facing out, one facing in. I did the facing in for a strong demon eye. I bet faceing the halo out would be bright enough for day time.
